I'm in an 18 team league, currently around 5th in scoring and about to lose this week to end up 5-4. I'm tempted to trade Vernon Davis and Mike Wallace for Steve Smith (CAROLINA) & Antonio Gates. What do you guys think?

I'm really hurting with WR2, and I like the ability to double dip with Gates since I have philip rivers. If I make this trade I would end up with:
QB: Rivers
WR: Roddy White
WR: Steve Smith (CAR)
TE: Gates
RB: Stephen Jackson
RB2: Donald Brown/Beanie Wells

Should I make the deal? Wallace has played well and davis has been a beast, but Steve Smith is an upgrade over wallace and Gates is always solid and makes a nice play with Rivers already in my lineup. The only hesitation is Davis has been HUGE and his schedule is a cake walk.

From a pure value standpoint, it's a great trade for you. I rank Davis and Gates pretty equal right now, believe it or not. Wallace is the #4 option in that passing game howveer (after Ward, Holmes and Miller), so obviously you win out big landing a no. 1 WR like Smith.

I'd make the deal, but I'd try to flip Smith to someone else right after. I don't expect much from him the rest of the year with DelHomme throwing to him, and that offense is all about the run, so you won't be getting the Steve Smith we are used to seeing.

Definitely make that trade. I can't see Davis outproducing Gates the rest of the way. And Steve Smith for Wallace? Please. Even if Smith has been disappointing, that is a steal. You got to make this deal!

Yes, I would make that trade, even though SMith has been a disappointment. I think he's more valuable than Wallace.
