week 10 idp dilemma.. who to start.. and maybe pickup too??

Postby lacunacoiler » Fri Nov 13, 2009 2:53 am

start: 2db, 2lb, 2dl, 1dp
scoring: fractional scoring, 8pts per defensive td, 2pts per int, 6pts per safety, 2pts per 0.5 sack, 2pts per ff, 1pt per solo tackle, 3pts per pass defensed

my team(current starters in bold):

lb(max 3)=james laurinitis, mike peterson, stephen cooper
dl(no max)=calais campbell, jay ratliff, osi umenyora
db(no max)=troy polamalu, tracy porter, oj atogwe, tyvon branch

who to start??

LB: Laurinitis has a favorable matchup against NO so he is very likely a no brainer.. Mike Peterson is also been a solid producer for the last few weeks & he also has a favorable matchup against a run-heavy offense, but it worries me that Lofton & Nicholas will siphon away some tackles from him.. Cooper is also a good bet with his solid production for the last few weeks, but I’m worried how productive he will be this weekend against PHI who will likely air it out more than run it..

DB: Polamalu is a no-brainer here due to his big-play ability, unless you guys think he will stink it up this weekend.. Atogwe has a favorable matchup this weekend due to playing against an explosive NO offense.. Porter has been on fire the last few weeks so & has a lot of big-play upside, but one thing that worries me is STL is a less explosive offense which limit Porter’s ceiling this weekend.. Branch is also like Porter who has been on fire for the last few weeks, but his matchup this weekend against a less explosive KC offense limits his ceiling..

DP flex: either one of my lb’s or db’s…

Free agent plans:

For DL, its likely either Bierman, Calvin Pace, Rich Seymour, Woodley, Leonard Little, Ray Edwards, or Jimmy Wilkerson if either of these guy you think are a better starter this weekend over my Campbell & Ratliff..

For LB, Paul Posluzny is available & I’m considering to pick him up & drop Cooper.. Durant, Briggs, Clint Session, Gary Brackett, & Shawn Merriman are also available & worth adding if you guys think either of them are better than Paul & my current lb’s moving forward..

For K, Dan Carpenter(MIA), Jay Feeley(NYJ), Matt Prater(DEN), & Matt Stover(IND) are my top options.. I just don’t know who to pick up to help me bail out… For now I’m leaning towards Jay Feeley..

any insights will be greatly appreciated...

DL: Campbell & Ratliff are obvious since Osi has a bye. I find DL's the hardest to predict from week to week so I can't really recommend anyone off the WW. If I had to pick one, I might go with Wilkerson over Campbell.

LB: I'd grab Posluszny and/or Durant off the WW. Based on fftoday's default IDP scoring, they're scoring more points per game than any of the LB's you have. Pos is ranked 7th, Durant 14th, Peterson 18th, Cooper 20th, & Laurinaitis 23rd. If you don't want both, I'd definitely pick up Pos. I'd probably drop Cooper for Pos...and if you also get Durant, I'd probably drop Laurinaitis. So then I'd start either Pos, Peterson, & Laurinaitis or Pos, Durant, & Peterson.

DB: Polamalu for sure. The other one is a little tough, but I agree with you in that I'd probably go with Atogwe over Porter & Branch this week.

K: Put the names in a hat & pick one. :-b I find K's literally impossible to predict week to week. I'd go with your gut and go with Feely.

Good luck! ;-D
