Drop Bowe for... WHIR

Postby chcbb » Wed Nov 18, 2009 8:23 am

So I have Bowe on my roster, he generally is on the bench w/ my other starters being:
DJax, MSW, Welker and Megatron.

Should I drop him for an available WR as a backup the next 4 weeks, or hold on to him?

Available WRs on the wire:
C. Chambers
J. Cotchrey
K.Walter
D. Avery
R. Meachem
L. Evans
S. Moss

Avery and Meachem seem like the hot hands lately, and were in yesterdays waiver wire article.

Post a link and I'll try to weigh in on your dilemma!

"One Mans trash is another mans treasure"

2 things: When are your fantasy playoffs? Does your league have an IR spot?(ESPN allows Bowe to be placed in IR spot)

I would look at adding Meachum(Brees new target) Chambers(The Replacement) or Kevin Walter(Underachiever but has upside with Daneils out and coming off of Bye Week).

Look at their playoff match ups as well very enticing.

My playoffs are weeks 15 & 16, so Bowe would be back barring any other setbacks... top 4 teams make it (I currently am 3rd in the league). No IR spots.

Matchups for weeks 15 & 16:
Bowe (& Chambers) : Cle & Cin
Meachum : Atl & Dal
Walter : Sea & StL
Avery : Ten & Hou

Only thing I worry about with Bowe at this point is the backlash that could take place when he is back from suspension. This is a league suspension not a Team suspension. KC has shown strong hand when it comes to player screw ups. I could see some chemistry building with Cassell and the other KC receivers while Bowe is out and if he comes back he may be tossed to the wayside. Who knows that KC might sit him the rest of the year. They are not in a race to win the division 2-7 tied with Oakland. They may roll with what they have and move forward. This of course is all speculation.(I like to play devils advocate) This is for performing enhancing substances and we all know how that is perceived in the eye of team ownership and fans.

I would look at Walter or Meachum. Both on teams that are pass happy and both are on teams that are in the playoff race. I give Walter the edge here. Meachum is seeing playing time cause Lance Moore is injured. Walter is the #2 in Houston.

Good Luck

Hope I put some insight into your decision.

The biggest thing you said was that Bowe was your BACKUP. What good is a backup if he can't backup your starters? Since he's a backup, he's easy to drop. Better to have protection for the next 4 weeks and worry about the last 2 later. The last week doesn't count anyway. If a player gets injured the last game of the season, it's already over. So, you're really talking 1 week. (assuming season ends week 16)

I'd put Evans first. He's been fairly consistent all year. Avery second cause at least he has a running game behind him. Which is why I put Chambers third, no running game. You could maybe put Meachem 4th due to the offense he plays in, but he'll be hit or miss, like all NO receivers not named Colston. The rest are inconsistent, IMO

I would drop Bowe. You could probably get him back in a couple weeks if you wanted.

Ditka posted exactly what I was going to recommend only in a different order.

Chambers, Walter, and Meachum. Chambers has good upside and you already were depending on the Chefs offense. Walter solid but nothing spectacular. Meachum will be boom or bust most weeks unless someone in NO gets injured.

help?
