Trade Steve Smith (CAR) for Steve Slaton? WHIR

My League Scoring and Lineup are listed below.

My receivers are Welker, Hines Ward, Donald Driver, Steve Smith (CAR), Percy Harvin, Eddie Royal. We only start 3 WR's. Our Trade Deadline is this afternoon.

I have Benson and his backup Bernard Scott. Someone beat me to Larry Johnson. I also have Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush, Mike Bell, Ahmad Bradshaw, Jamal Lewis. We start 2 RB's.

I was thinking of trading Smith since I have depth at WR for Steve Slaton, just in case Benson's injury turns out to be worse than what is being reported and Bernard Scott doesn't pan out.

I know its a risk and Slaton lost his starting role last week, but I think he will eventually get it back. I've also clinched a playoff spot.

I'm not sure what I'd do...

Pro's to doing the trade:
Steve Smith is inconsistent and the Panthers run the ball way to much for Smith to regain top WR status
You don't have to worry about which Saints RB is gonna get the bulk of the carries
Benson and Slaton would be a great set of RB's IF Slaton gets his job back

Con's:
Steve Smith could thrive in the no huddle offense Carolina has been doing lately (Delhomme hasn't turned the ball over in 3 games)
Hines Ward could drop off from his production leaving you with Percy or Royal as the 3rd WR
Slaton never gets the clear cut starting job back meaning you still have to start Pierre

AFTER looking at this...I wouldn't do the trade. I don't have that much confidence in Slaton and I don't have that much confidence in WArd being a top WR

I say don't do it. Slaton is a fumble machine and he lost his job to Moats. I have Smitty in my lineup and i'm not really happy with his performance but in this situation it wouldn't make sense to trade him for Slaton. If it was last year's Slaton then I would pull the trigger.

I'd do it just based on your WR depth. Even if Benson is fine you've always got a 3rd option at runningback if Benson or Thomas have unfavorable matchups.

He just offered Tomlinson for Steve Smith. Should I do that?

At least I know what Tomlinson's role in the offense is.

I think I'm going to do it. Thoughts?
