austin vs burleson

Postby cork95 » Tue Nov 24, 2009 11:31 pm

have austin but he hasn't done much lately. Coming into the playoffs and Burleson is still avail. Do I drop Austin? (Also have MSW and AJ starting).

thanks in advance

I wouldn't. Austin hasn't done much but the whole Cowboys passing game has been down. If it clicks again, Austin will be a big part of that. He has more upsdie than Burleson.

Depends on team/ Settings...
PPR
Austin can be huge... or be GONE!!!

Burleson has been consistent... as long as he isn't play Arizona...

If you need steady numbers... get Burleson.... If you can handle someone not being there one week and blowing up the next... stick with Austin.

Remember... Romo can be gone in Dec... Career QB Rating (If you believe in that)
Sept - 100.3
Oct - 93.0
Nov - 110.4
Dec - 71.9

Just food for thought...

I think you should sit tight with Austin, but only because Hasselbeck doesn't get enough time in the pocket because of the o-line. Austin is not an elite talent. He saw some easy matchups when he blew up, and he was a 'secret' up to that point. He can't break the double teams that he is now seeing, double teams that true elites can deal with consistently. Austin wasn't a starter at the start of the season for a reason.

Austin has not yet adjusted to WR1 double teams. He's good but he needsto learn how to beat the double coverage. I'd go with Burleson this year as a low RB1/high RB2 and maybe Austin next year if/when he adjusts. As mentioned above, Burleson for consistent points [usually] and Austin if you NEED to gamble on possible big points.

Looks like I owe Mr. Austin an apology. I'll be eating crow the rest of this thanksgiving.
