Do I trade Witten and K. Smith (hard playoff schedule) for J Charles and Breaston?

I have to think Boldin will get hurt before long... and Charles has an easy week 14 and 15.

I would do this - I think you're receiving a marginal upgrade at RB for "just in case" and you are offloading Witten for some usable depth at WR. It's not a deal that will probably give you a guy you start down the stretch unless there's an injury, but I like the matchups/situations you're getting better than what you have right now
