Help with Defense and Flex - WHIR!!!

Postby 2b-or-not-2b » Fri Nov 27, 2009 2:50 pm

Current Starters
QB Drew Brees - NO
RB Ricky Williams - Mia
RB Thomas Jones - Buf
RB/WR ????
WR Wes Welker - Ten
WR Larry Fitzgerald - Ari
TE Vernon Davis - SF
D/ST ????
K Nate Kaeding - SD

Bench
QB Eli Manning NYG (LOCKED)
RB Shonn Greene – NYJ
RB Rock Cartwright - Was
WR Robert Meacham - NO
WR Jeremy Maclin - Phi
WR Roy Williams – Dal (LOCKED)
D/ST Bengals
D/ST Vikings
D/ST Packers (LOCKED)

I need some feedback on my Defense and my Flex position. I am more than happy to help in return.

Defense: Vikings vs Bears or Bengals vs Browns. Both are favorable matchups at home but I’ve got a tough opponent this week and need to squeeze out every point I can.

My second challenge is my Flex. My Flex options are as follows:

RB Rock Cartwright – Was (should get majority of RB touches for WAS)
RB Shonn Greene – NYJ (should get a few touches against CAR this week)
WR Robert Meacham - NO (4 TDs last 3 games and I’m thinking Mon night will be a shootout of Biblical proportions)
WR Jeremy Maclin - Phi (solid #2 for PHI with significant receptions but WAS has the #1 pass defense)

for D i'd go with Cincy .. Chi has more offensive weapons then Cle

for the flex, i think its between Cartwright and Meachum... if you think NO vs NE will be a shootout then id go with your gut and start Meach

Meachum and the Vikings would be how I'd roll this week. For some reason, CLE always plays Cinci pretty tough. I'm not really that high on your other flex options this week.

Thx for your help on mine!

For me, it's between Cartwright and Meachem at flex. Cartwright did well against DAL, and he will get all the touches. But I expect PHI to get up early in a home game, and I don't know if WAS will be able to get the running game going at all. Meachem has struggled against good secondaries, but Peyton struggled most of the game v NE and eventually cut them open. Expect Brees to do the same, and Meachem has a knack for getting open in the red-zone. I like Meachem.

I'm tempted to expect another interception-fest for Cutler, but the Vikes haven't really been a big interception team...still could be a perfect storm. On the other hand, I fully expect a ticked off CIN D to prove last week was a fluke by utterly destroying CLE. Don't think either one is a bad choice, but I give the nod to CIN

Thanks for your help with mine (you said exactly what I was thinking about Crabtree so I think you're smart now lmao) Good luck! ;-D

Cartwright showed good hands last week. Even if Was gets down and needs to pass, I think he will be involved. The check down pass may be their only option. Was pass defense is actually solid. So, Phi may have a hard time getting up BIG enough to stop of the run game. I'd roll the Rock.

Chicago looked horrible last week. I expect the Viks to crush them. Cinn is going to be pissed after last weeks loss. this is really a toss-up. I would go with the team that has a better history of creating turnovers and sacks. Not sure who that is though.

Thanks again for the help bro...I'd go with Meachem, although Cartwright was close second. Then I'd roll with the Vikes...their D is pretty good and although the Brownies have severe issues, I'd still look Minny's way. Good luck and thanks again!

Thanks for your help with mine.

I like Cartwright for some sure points. Meachem seems less certain to get points, though he has a high ceiling if he blows up.

Cinci D

I like Cincy's D. The Browns are just God-awful, despite the Lions making them look like the 2000 Rams last week. I see a defensive TD in this one. The Bears could put up a few points if Cutler gets his head screwed on even halfway straight, although the Vikings will definitely rack up the sacks against Chicago's piss-poor o-line. BTW, pity you didn't roll with the Packers. Shouldn't have let a banged up secondary scare you away from a matchup against the Lions.

At the FLEX, I'd go with Cartwright. He's got great upside, and he'll see the ball a TON this week. Green is a definite no; anyone who looks to only get "a few touches" shouldn't be an option unless it's out of necessity. Meachum is a third receiver that's played well, but I'm a hard guy to convince that starting a third receiver is ever the "correct" play when you have other options on the table. Maclin is a tough sit, but given his matchup I think he has to ride the pine.

I would go with any starting RB over any #2 WR. So, take Cartwright.

And, I like CIN defense every week. Love them against CLE. Definitely play CIN.
