1 for the money - WHIR

Postby BearsFan65 » Wed Dec 02, 2009 2:59 pm

Ok, brothers and sisters, here's what it comes down to. 12 team PPR league, I'm in a three way tie for first, I have the overall points lead by a narrow 14 points. To win the regular season, I need to win my matchup and get enough points up there to hold off the other two teams. We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR. My roster for week 13 (starters in bold):

QB - Schaub (@ JAX), Hasselbeck (v SF)
RB - Rice (@ GB), Mendenhall (v OAK), Wells (v MIN)
WR - A Johnson (@ JAX), V Jackson (@ CLE), Sims-Walker (v HOU), Megatron (@ CIN)
TE - Gates (@ CLE)
K - Akers (@ ATL)
D/ST - Bengals (DET), Vikings (@ ARI)

1. Anything you'd change about the starting lineup?
2. In preparation for the playoffs, would you keep Hasselbeck in case of a Schaub injury, or drop him for McGahee to handcuff Rice?

WHIR, thanks and good luck to all in the playoffs!

I like everything.. IF you are going for points I would be temopted to throw in Megatron instead of Sims-Walker and swing for the fences.. Other then that.. You should be OK. Mendy is setup for a HUGE day vs Oak as is Schaub vs Jax.. You have solid matchups across the board..

thanks for the help. ironically, my QB is schaub, and my two RB starters this week are rice and mendy.

the only real decision here is megatron vs. MSW. honestly, i think their ceilings are about the same (150 yards, 1-2 TDs.) they're both the feature WR with semi-competent quarterbacks who may be throwing frequently to keep their team in the game. one however, is facing a porous pass D (MSW) while one is facing pro-bowl DB's and one of the most physical D's in the league (CJ.)

i'd start MSW. not to mention, CJ has been dinged up recently.

Thanks for the help.

I'd stick with what you have. You're going to get good points either way, so I'd play it safe. MSW should rebound from a below-average performance last week.

Thanks to all who replied, and hope my help was useful to you. For the record, I'm leaving it as is for this week, and have also gone ahead and dropped Hasselbeck for McGahee. I can find a serviceable option at QB week by week if something should happen to Schaub (and god how I love his schedule down the stretch - stay healthy, Matt!), but if my #1 RB goes down and I don't have his handcuff on my roster, I probably get my FF union card taken away for gross negligence. Not to mention the public ridicule and shame of it all. Good luck to all this week!
