Flex help! WHIR!

Postby jrwatts » Sat Dec 05, 2009 8:08 pm

Here are my thoroughly mediocre options for flex this week:

Kevin Smith @ CIN
Rock Cartwright vs NO
Felix Jones @ NYG
Devin Hester vs STL
Kenny Britt @ IND

Which ONE do I start? This is a must-win game for me to make the playoffs, so help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Looks like Cartwright is the best choice you've got. The only thing to worry about is if Washington gets behind early and has to abandon the run game.

The best talent on your list is Smith, but his matchup is definitely less than ideal. Hester, conversely, has a great matchup, but do you trust him? I sure don't. Britt is a really trendy guy to play this week because love for VY has reached grotesque levels, but I'll ask the same question I did about Hester: do you trust him? I certainly don't see Vince throwing for 380+ again this week, and I think taking any TEN receiver at this point is a huge gamble. Jones is a backup, so he's obviously out. That leaves us with the aforementioned Smith and Cartwright. Cartwright didn't impress me too much last week, and his matchup isn't a ton better than Smith's. Both WAS and DET may well fall behind early, but Smith is nearly as valuable as a receiver as he is as a runner so playing catch-up would hurt Cartwright much more. I think you have to play your better back (Smith) and hope for the best. You're probably looking at a ceiling of 80 total yards and a score, but at least you know he'll get touches.

I agree with the last poster; looks like Smith is your guy. He will get his touches in any event. Cartwright got around 15 carries, but only produced 30 something yards if I remember last time; not to mention they brought in different RB's on goal line formations. I say Smith. Gl!
