Bench my starters????

Ok, I"m in a 10 team dynasty league, currently 12-1 and have first place all locked up. There are currently 3 teams still fighting it out for the 4th and final playoff spot and I am playing one of them this week. He has the weakest team of the three and would be the easiest opponent for me in the first week of the playoffs. So is it wrong of me to bench my top players, let him win and hope the other two lose and I face him in the first round? Thanks for looking. WHIR

I know its tempting but I wouldnt do it. I think you should put your best possible line-up out there and make the guy earn his playoff spot. It could come back to bite you in the ass. You give him a free pass this week and then next week his team blows up and takes you out. How would you feel then knowing you just screwed yourself because he should have never made the playoffs to begin with. Plus the other teams will be highly pissed if you do this.

I honestly don't think I would do that. I understand the idea behind it but you never know with fantasy football especially during the playoffs see Antonio Bryant last year. Just play your studs given your record I'm sure your team will be just fine no matter your opponent.

Nope, not wrong... However, if there is only a marginal difference b/w teams I wouldn't bother.

Two things.

By benching your starters you could cause someone else to miss playoffs. Ethics are a part of any league. Do you play in a league with friends or co-workers? How would you feel if the situation were reversed and you missed the playoffs because the #1 team benched his starters and cost you a playoff spot?

In 11 years (same two leagues), it has never happened in the money leagues I play in. If it did, the offending team would not be welcomed back. But, we are much too competitive for that to happen. And have too much respect for our league.

And never underestimate the power of the fantasy gods!

If this is realy your game plan and you do it , you just cant make it all out obvious maybe put in 2 or so slightly less players in , but also think about how you would feel on the other side this is a Dynasty league so it could come back to haunt you if the other owners think something is up, any how good luck
