Bengals receiver Chris Henry dies from injuries

Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry died Thursday morning after suffering head injuries when he fell from the bed of a moving pickup truck Wednesday during what police said was a domestic dispute with his fiancee, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The police said Henry died at 6:36 a.m. He had been on life support since he was admitted to the hospital. Henry was 26.

Bengals president Mike Brown said in a statement Thursday morning that Rusty Guy, the team's director of security, was headed to Charlotte to offer the club’s assistance to Henry's family gathered there.

Henry’s agents, PlayersRep Sports Management, had issued a statement Wednesday night asking people to pray for Henry.

Henry’s condominium, with a Bengals door mat out front, was dark Wednesday night, as his immediate family, including his mother and brother, rushed to Charlotte.

Coach Marvin Lewis will make a statement at 11 a.m.

Tragic. Chris has had his troubles in the past but he had matured and turned the corner in the past year or so. RIP.

Unreal. I hope you are below the age of 6. A comment like this to a report of someone suffering life-threatening (ultimately life-taking) injuries is inexcusable otherwise. Grow up.

Wow very unexpected news to hear both last night and this morning. Chris Henry had so many problems and issues off the field I think we all were always hoping he'd turn it around. What a sad sad story my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

I hate to hear this like this, especially this time of year. I know Henry had his share of problems but was turning his life around for the better.. I heard he was gone as of late yesterday but they kept him on life support in order for his mother to fly down and see him one last time.. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family..

This is why you shouldn't jump into the back of a moving pickup. If the wife knew he was in the back and kept driving she should be charged with something. Such a shame.
