Favre or Romo?? WHIR

Postby smutha » Fri Dec 18, 2009 1:19 am

Favre vs. Panthers

or

Romo vs. Saints

This is for the finals! ...i've been struggling with this decision all week long, and I am now more confused than ever.

WHIR...

Scoring:
20yds = 1 point;
TD = 6 points;
300 yds passing is a 5 point bonus.

I'd also go with Favre as I think New Orleans can stop Romo.

My Saints are gonna humiliate Romo out there. You've gotta go with Favre.

This is a tough one. I'd have to say Romo.
Both QB's are doing well but both of their opponents have good pass defenses. The Saints tend to give up more yards because they usually have a lead. Last 5 games: Carolina has given up 1063 yds with only 3 TD's and 9 int's. The Saints have given up 1331 with 7 TD's and 8 int's. The big difference is the number of TD's. Carolina has a bend but don't break defense that is not likely to give up long TD passes. Carolina is more susceptible to the run ( they gave up 5 rushing TD's over the same period) so Peterson may get more TD's than Favre. Also, the Panthers offense is pathetic and is based on the run. They are not likely to be in a shootout. In contrast, Romo likely will be in a shootout. Favre used to be a great cold weather QB, but age has caught up with him. One of the reasons he has done so well this year is the schedule. The coldest temp he has played in was probably Green Bay at 48 degrees. Carolina will be in the 20's Sunday night and Favre did poorly on grass and at night last year. Romo will be in a dome.

I'm gonna get crazy and say Romo.

Carolina is ranked 6th best in passing yardage allowed, 3rd best in TDs allowed, 5th in INTs. Thats a darn good passing defense.

Dallas has way too much to lose to throw up a stinker. They are going to go out trying to prove that they can win in December. They probably won't, but I think Romo will put up some decent stats.

Plus Romo can't suck all of his life in December, right? Right?

Another note on Favre and cold weather from the Minneapolis Star http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/blogs/79636807.html

It's not exactly a secret that one reason Brett Favre wanted to play for the Vikings was because he liked the thought of being inside for his home games. Favre, by the way, was 1-6 on the road in temps of sub-34 degrees while with the Packers. He threw nine picks and one touchdowns in his last four "cold weather" games on the road with Green Bay.
