Need help at RB/WR (who to start)

Postby stanjam » Fri Dec 18, 2009 8:37 am

Hey all! I am new here, and fairly new to FF. I am in a Yahoo league, fairly standard rules, and a .5 ppr rule. I have been getting by after a rather poor draft by hitting the waiver wire hard, and picking up discards, especially injury discards who would perform later on. Anyways, it is the playoffs, and I am in a real bind. My opponent is looking at a possible huge week, and mine is so-so. Once again I scoured the waiver wire to help out my team in this 8 man league. I need help with who to start at RB, WR, and my flex positions (WR/T and WR/RB). Sorry for so many, but I can't afford to screw up, and mostly I seem to pick the wrong person weekly!

I need 2 Running Backs, 3 if I put a RB in the WR/RB slot. My choices are:
Maroney (I am thinking he is one of my solid RB choices this week)
B Jacobs (not having a great year, but they are playing Wash)
P.Thomas (questionable with injury, and playing Dallas - ugh)
Arian Foster (waiver pickup. Good upside, but will he get the playing time to help me?)
Justin Forsett (waiver wire pickup, playing TB, which is good, but sharing time with J Jones most likely)
Chris Jennings (waiver Wire pickup, looks good, but I don't trust Mangini to ever do anything intelligent)
Felix Jones (Umm, not a strong candidate)

I need 2 WR, 3 if I put a WR in the WR/TE slot, where I am thinking of putting Fred Davis, a waiver pickup this week. Clark is my regular TE, and he didn't disappoint Thurs!
Wes Welker (Probably my strongest candidate)
Donald Driver (Pits isn't what it was, and he could have a great game)
H. Nicks (he could have a great game, but then again, he might fall flat. Playing against Washington, so opportunities should be there)
Robert Meachem (like Nicks, could have a huge game, but could come up short against Dallas)
Mario Manningham (also has a shot, but probably less of one than Nicks)
Fred Davis (A TE, but I could throw him in at the WR/TE flex slot. He has been hot, especially in Red Zone, and the NYG could be vulnerable here)

Well, that is my dilemma. Relevant scoring is 1 point per 10 yards rushing, or 15 yards receiving. .5 points per reception. 6 points per TD. -2 points for a fumble. Return yards not counted, but a TD on a return is scored.

If you need help, I will do what I can, just link it. Thanks in advance to helping a new guy in his first playoffs! (well, we all got in lol, but i am fourth overall)

Some tough decisions. I would go with:

Maroney - may be playing in some bad weather, so the ball may stay on the ground
A. Foster - Probably offers the greatest upside of the RB's you mention

For WR I would go with Welker and Driver.

For the flex I would consider Nicks or Davis for the reasons you mention. Meachem may have a big game but there are so many weapons in NO.

Thanks. That helps. I have been thinking Maroney and Foster as well. The third option is a tough one though. Do I go with another running back or go wide receiver? Welker and Driver are who I go with every week, so I should probably stick with them. The third spot is right now going to Davis, but I just don't know.

Ugh, I hate weeks like this. Makes me think that whoever I bench is going top have a good week!
