Jacobs or Ganther I need 13 points for the win

Postby chefpilsy » Mon Dec 21, 2009 11:44 am

Thoughts on Jacobs or Ganther tonight? I am trailing by 12.9 points. 1 point per 10 yards, and 6 pts per TD.

Thank you!!

I wouldn't underestimate the 'Skins defense, which has been top-5 in the NFL all year. Yet, I'd still go with Jacobs. Ganther has looked promising, but the 'Skins will still split touches with Cartwright and Marcus Mason a bit more than the Giants will with Bradshaw/Ware in my opinion. And while I hope I'm wrong, I think the 'Skins will be playing from behind.

Basically, the formula for New York to beat Washington is not to have Manning drop back 45 times -- Orakpo/Haynesworth/Carter will eat him. If the Giants win, my belief is that Jacobs will put up a tough 75 or so yards on 20 or so carries and punch it in at least once.

There's your 13 points. Start Jacobs.

I am on the same boat my friend, except I am trailing by 33 points... BUT, I also have Steve Smith (WR) and Fred Davis (TE) playing tonight. It's a long shot, but you never know.

I too, would like to hear some more opinions on which back to start?

Personally, I want to start Ganther. Jacobs was my second pick this year and quite frankly he has been a major disappointment.

HELP! :~(

Man, this is a tough one. I'm in the same position. My opponent is up 2 pts on me right now and is starting Tynes tonight which should get him 10-13 pts (I'm expecting a good game for him). So I need to go w/ upside on this one. Jacobs has disappointed me all year with 7, 8, and 10 pt games. He rarely gets into the end zone now that they're utilizing Bradshaw on the GL more. I've always been told to use the players in the big games that got me there... well unfortunately Jacobs didn't get me where I'm at so he's riding pine. Ganther is still unproven but they're saying he's the man in WAS and he also looked good catching passes out of the backfield so in PPR he gets a small bump.

This what really makes up my mind though... I like putting in players that are highly motivated and need to prove themselves to keep their job. Ganther fits that role nicely and he has a great head on his shoulders. While he won't run all over the Giants, he should still net 60-70 rush yds, 20-30 pass yds, and a TD. The Giants have given up 17 TD's to RB's this year! I'll take my chances and hope for the best! Oh yeah, and Jacobs runs upright and gets hurt often... don't be surprised if he comes out and sits half the game for tweaking a knee.

Thanks everyone - I'll be chewing on this up until gametime, but I'm still leaning to Ganther. Sirchadwick - nice summary - Jacobs has NOTHING to do with what got me to the semifinals - he rarely got me 10 points a week, and of course the one time I didn't start him, he had that ridiculous 74 yard play but that seems to be a one time occurrence rather than the norm. I know either way I go I'll be wrong, but I think Ganther wants to prove he should have a bigger role in the future, and that his TDs last week against Oakland weren't a fluke.

Good luck everyone and thanks again!
