Lineup Help (read: dealing with Sean Payton) WHIR

Postby Delhomme17 » Sat Jan 02, 2010 2:29 pm

This morning I did what I do every morning. I woke up, brushed my teeth, splashed some water on my face, and checked the Internet to see what was going on in the world. Everything was rolling smoothly until I hit ESPN.com, which kindly informed me that Sean Payton had decided to stab roto players in the back and sit Drew Brees. Sweet. I'm heading into this week 15 points back from the league leader, so I really, really needed Breesus to come through for me. Not gonna happen. I'm in a non-PPR, standard-scoring Yahoo! league that starts 2 QB's, 3 WR's, 2 RB's, 1 TE, 1 RB/WR, 1 K, and 1 DEF (just D, not DST). Here's my lineup as it stands right now:

Guys I'm planning to start:

QB: Schaub
QB: Henne
WR: Braynt
WR: Sims-Walker
WR: Aromashodu
RB: Rice
RB: Charles
TE: Heap
FLEX: Harrison
K: Kasay
DEF: Tennessee

Guys I'm planning to bench:

BN: Brees, Hasselbeck, Colston, Driver, Wayne, Grant

Let me know what you think of how I've arranged things. This is pretty much a nightmare scenario. Brees sitting kills Colston's value, Wayne is an obvious benching candidate, and Driver scares me since GB doesn't have a lot to play for tomorrow. I picked up Henne as soon as I heard about Brees, and I'm inclined to believe he's a better option than Hasselbeck (particularly since I'm playing Tennessee's defense against Seattle). I also took a flyer on Aromashodu, who I think is a pretty solid option and I'm not too peaved about starting. Not too pleased with having to play MSW or Bryant; other available guys I'm considering are Nate Washington, Louis Murphy, Jason Avant, Josh Morgan, and James Jones. I sort of like the idea of grabbing Jones since he'll probably get a lot of WR1 looks, but I haven't sold myself on it just yet. I dropped San Diego's defense to get Henne, so they're also available. I thought Tennessee was a slightly better play, but it was close.

Anyway, advice would be appreciated. Sorry for the semi-longwinded post. As always, leave a link and I'll take a look at yours. Thanks.

think you've got it right,I agree with your sits and don't see anything I'd change(though I'd be sure and watch for news of anything else to make me sit someone else)

I think I agree with it as well...I hear your pain, it was a similar scenario for me, as I have Brees and Colston as well...so much for that! Good luck with it and please help if you can! viewtopic.php?t=466416 Thanks!

While not optimal, I actually think you've got a nice lineup. Keep it as is! ;-D

I would take Morgan or Jones (GB) instead of Bryant. MSW should be good against Cleveland. If you could get Alex Smith or 49ers D that would be good. Yoou could take Chicago at Detriot D. Otherwise I think your lineup is fine.

Sean Payton is not my favorite coach either.
