I am just sick reading about this. A 7.0 magnitude earthquake strikes and perhaps 100,000+ people are dead. So many homeless. So many more injured and needing treatment.
The UN says 100 of their staff are missing.
Doctors Without Borders is missing staff. All three of their facilities are currently inoperable.
According to reports, "most" of Port-Au-Prince is destroyed.
EDIT - here's a list of places you can go to donate or volunteer:

It really is. Like you I've been pretty out of touch with what's going on in the world, especially since school started back up. The scale of this disaster is just mind boggling.

I'm trying to fix that 'not being in the know' thing. I'm trying this iGoogle and it's pretty cool. I just don't have the patience or the trust for regular TV news anymore.

Yeah I hear ya, I'm watching PBS news right now, It's a little more straight forward news. I usually check the headlines on Yahoo or whatever but school has kept me so busy that I haven't even been doing that lately.
