Westbrook's value Next Season

Postby ffootball4ever » Wed Jan 13, 2010 5:43 pm

I'm in a keeper league with a funky franchise rule. Another owner in the league has westbrook franchised for next season. Of course this owner is ready to dump him, but it would cost him a salary ( $ 36 out of 250 total ) This owner also had B.Jacobs. I have lots of cap room, and I'm thinking about offering A.Bradshaw for Westbrook. I think i can get the owner to eat half of the salary too !!

Just not sure if there is enough upside to pull the trigger.......any help is appreciated !!

Well to me your between a rock and a hard place. Bradshaw doesn't have a ton of value with a healthy Jacobs, Westbrook is on the downside of his career and they have a up and coming rb also. If he will do this I think that this has a ton of upside if Westy does come back healthy, but I may wait to see if they cut him or he may possibly retire also. I would wait until later in the off season before thinking about pulling the trigger on this one. Good luck.

Report: Brian Westbrook may have to retire

Brian Westbrook may have to retire, reports Philadelphia radio host Howard Eskin.

Perhaps no media member in Philadelphia is as plugged in to the Eagles as Eskin, so this report has validity. Eskin says that it's Westbrook's troublesome left knee -- not his concussions -- that is the issue. Westbrook, 30, is due $7.5 million in 2010 and is extremely unlikely to be back with the Eagles. He'll visit with doctors about the knee and Eskin says B-West could have trouble passing a physical for another team. It's looking more and more like a great career will end on a sad note. In a keeper league, Westbrook has zero value. The retirement talk doesn't help at all. He's due to make like 8 million next year, so he's as good as done in Philly.

I wouldn't offer anything for him. If Westbrook does play in 2010, it won't be for the Eagles, and he'll have some sort of complimentary mentor role to a younger RB somewhere. He's draftable only as a handcuff to whatever RB he plays behind.

I'd prefer to throw a RB like Bradshaw back into the draft if yo can't keep him. It will force someone else that keeps Jacobs to draft Bradshaw earlier, and a better RB will fall to you in your draft accordingly.

Avoid Westbrook at all costs!
