I think I have that shark one. Don't use it much though. I have a cheetah one that's my driver and another one I can't remember what's on it as my putter. I've never lost if that counts for anything, haha. Probably the competition, though the one buddy I play with plays a lot. Just not very good I guess. Unless I'm just exceptionally gifted naturally.

The Shark is perfect for that throw where you know you can't make it but want to be close. Its understable which allows it to stay straighter like a putter but flys better from distance than a putter.

I used to play La Mirada CA, PAsadena, and Huntington Beach.

My favorite hole on La Mirada. As you know its real hard to throw a disc that slices right. They didn't have the mandatories when I played so you actually sit a good 100 yards above that lake and throw it at one point over the lake until it rolls and comes down short of the tee or to it if you are real good. Crazy hole. If you are willing to wade through duck and swan poop with a little water you can find some good discs.

I guess I've been running on a torn ACL and a stress fracture of the tibia (shin) for the last two months. I knew about the ACL but not the stress fracture. (I talked about it a bit in my last post on page 25 but didn't know what it was.) I just ignored the pain and expected it to go away by itself. Sounds like I need to take 1-2 months off to let it heal. There goes my summer running.

I need to find a gym to join. Has anyone ever been to a Planet Fitness? They have memberships for $10 a month ($40 startup fee and $20 annual fee). Seems like a pretty good deal.

I've never heard of planet fitness, but that is a GREAT rate for a gym membership. Is that only if you give them keys to your checking account so they can bill you continuously whether you go or not?

Yeah you're required to give them your routing number. It costs the same each month whether you go 20 times a month or not at all for as long as your membership lasts.

that's how gyms stay in business... sign up as many people as possible for a really low rate but get access to their bank account so once they stop coming in, they still bill it to your account and the low low monthly rate isn't enough to make a person want to deal with the hassle of cancelling the membership, which has restrictions anyway, and darn it you're gunna get back in the gym next month, so why cancel.

Well I would plan on going in regularly. Of course I can't say for sure I'd follow through with that but I wouldn't bother joining in the first place if that wasn't my intention.

If I joined I'd probably try to get a 1 year membership. $40 + $30 + ($10*12) = $190 / 12 months = $15.83 per month

I'd think I would be able to get them to stop billing my account after my membership ends. And while it lasts I'd be compelled to go as often as possible to get my money's worth. In high school, I used the gym at school. In college I did the same thing. I haven't had to join a private gym so I don't really know what a good rate is.

IDK, just trying to figure out a way to stay in shape since I can't run right now. Running has always been my main form of exercise with just a little bit of weight lifting thrown in.

And I already pay my electric bill via automatic deductions from my checking account. My checking account is a bit unusual in that I get a high interest rate (4.01% APY) if I meet certain qualifications (otherwise 0.2%). One of them being some form of automatic payment.

I was an economic major in college and I'm looking towards the finance industry as my long term career. I like to think I'm pretty good at managing my money.

I'm guessing Planet Fitness is like 24 Hour Fitness or Snap Fitness, a couple of franchises that popped up all over town in the last few years. They're not bad - minimal fees for free weights/aerobic stuff, and they have personal trainers on site if you want them. If I didn't loathe lifting so much I might join the local one again. I went there for about a year, then dropped it because it wasn't holding my interest.

I never implied that you weren't, Jake. Do it however you want of course. In my personal experience it didn't end well. I moved to another town so the gym was no longer around the corner. When i told them I was cancelling they at first flat out refudiate it, saying I was contractually bound. I wasn't, I was month to month and had signed nothing. Then they started in with the cancellation fees and that they were going to bill me in full for that month and the next month, because it the 5th and I hadn't given thirty days notice. I said again that I never agreed to do any such thing as that is the point of going month to month. Their attitude was that they could bill whatever they wanted and I had no way to stop it and screw me. Ended up having to go down there and have a very unpleasant conversation with the owner.

4% on checking is pretty sweet.
