Tough Keeper Situation

Postby DetroitShallProsper » Fri Jan 15, 2010 3:30 pm

Hey guys, I have a team in a 12 team keeper league, where we keep 3 with the following guidelines:

We can keep 2 from rounds 1-7
We can keep 1 after round 7

They overlap so if I wanted all of my keepers could be after round 7.
You lose the pick from the round your keeper was in.

So here's my team(not my whole team but who I consider keepable)

QB: Matt Schaub (Round 7)
WR: Percy Harvin (Round 8)
WR: Mike Wallace (Waiver Wire)
WR: Miles Austin (Round 13)
RB: Knowshon Moreno (Round 4)
RB: Ronnie Brown (Round 4)
RB: Jerome Harrison (Waiver Wire)
TE: Brent Celek (Last Round)

So I was thinking:

Schaub - One of the best QB's this season and keeping him for a 7th round pick is good value
Austin - I think this one is pretty obvious, he was drafted in the 13th
Brown - I have my doubts but for a 4th rounder I think its great value

So what do you guys think? I think its a tough decision for me because I think Knowshon has more long-term keeper value than Ronnie Brown, and also getting Brent Celek or Jerome Harrison for a last round pick is also really good value.

Another think to ponder is that not everyone in the league has a good late round keeper, so I could trade Harrison/Celek/Harvin for draft picks next year.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I agree with your logic as listed, the only difference I would keep Moreno over Brown...I think Moreno will be a top performer in the next few years.

I would keep Moreno, Schaub and Austin. I am very worried about Ronnie's injury. I would go with Moreno who is younger and has not had the injury history of ronnie

I would probably go a little bit differently. I would keep Moreno, Austin, and Harvin if Favre comes back. If no Favre than I would keep Schaub.

I would also favor Moreno over Brown. Brown is more explosive, but I think Moreno will prove to be more reliable.

Return the favor?

I would keep Schaub (7th is a steal), Austin (13th is a nobrainer), Moreno and Brown for a 4th is not that appealing. Moreno is not going to be as good as people think as Denver is not a good place for Fantasy players IMO. Can you trade for a RB? If not, I'd have to go with Brown even though he is comming back from injury. RW is a long 30+ with fumbleitis..... and a QB that we all need to keep an eye on.
