William Deeley, president of the Inner Circle of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, says the animal is “being treated better than the average child in Pennsylvania.” The groundhog is kept in a climate-controlled environment and is inspected annually by the state Department of Agriculture.

Really? the average child in Pennsylvania doesn't have heating and cooling in their home or schools, or get to see an exam once a year?

Seriously. They made a documentary about it that's pretty interesting. The place is crowded, big-time. It's a pretty good documentary. You should check it out.

For me, every time I see PETA do something like this, it just reinforces me to eat even more dead animals.
