The Titans added a controversial figure to their undrafted free agent class on Sunday night when former Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount agreed to contract terms.
Blount is best known for punching a Boise State player during a postgame brawl in the 2009 season opener. He also confronted a student and had to be led away by security. He was suspended for most of the season as a result of the highly publicized incident, which played out on national television. He remained in school during the suspension and was reinstated late in the season.
Blount initially agreed to terms with the 49ers but changed his mind after talking to Titans Coach Jeff Fisher on Sunday. He’s scheduled to report to Baptist Sports Park this week. Fisher could not be reached for comment on Sunday night.
The 6-foot-1, 238-pound Blount is a bruising runner who rushed for 1,002 yards as a junior and set a single-season school record with 17 touchdowns. He had 82 yards on 22 carries in 2009.
Blount, 23, was also suspended from the Oregon football team in February 2009 for “failure to fulfill team obligations.’’
