if you had an open roster spot, who would you fill it with from the following:

Charlie Whitehurst QB Seattle
Dennis Dixon QB Pitts
Matt Jones (yeah that Matt Jones) WR Cincy
Armanti Edwards QB/WR Carolina

I am set at all positions, my roster is not needed here.. Bottom line, I have the last pick in the rookie draft (and we can draft vets) and these are the ONLY 4 guys I'm looking at..

With that said, I have Mike Wallace WR (hence Dixon) and I have Carson Palmer as a reserved QB (hence Matt Jones)...

talk to me people.. cruch time.. thanks WHIR

Right now I would say Matt Jones. Chris Hobson of the Cincinnati Inquirer recenty wrote Jones is in the best shape of his career, and stood out in the Bengals' recent mini-camp.

I might lean to Dixon if I had Big Ben on my roster, but Byron Leftwich is still in the mix to start while Ben is out on suspension. Same goes for Whitehurst if I had Hasselbeck -- but then again if you even have Hasselbeck on your roster I think you have bigger problems -- lol.

I'd grab Jones and take a wait-and-see approach. He put up some decent numbers in Jacksonville in 2008 and looks like the scare of being out of the league last year has motivated him to shape up.

thanks guys.. good stuff..

and no, i dont have Haas.. lol

my QB's are Favre, C.Palmer, M.Lienart, Kolb

Just with Favre playing "hesitation" games and unsure abt the arm of Palmer anymore, I was looking to next year for Whitehurts. Kolb is a go, I hope. And anything is possible with Lienart. And before you ask, yes, Skelton has already been drafted and not available.. lol

I read good stuff also about Matt Jones.. Just wonder if it is mini-camp hype (they all look/perform) well in shorts and non contact..

Dixon looks to be only a 4 week filler since Rapistsberger is completing his NFL requirements for treatment..

Jones is a "freak" of nature in his size, weight and speed. but you could be right that this latest episode may have "scared him straight"... If anything, C.Palmer will have some weapons this year with OchoCinco, Shipley, J.Gresham, possibly M.Jones..

Again, thanks..

any other thoughts. ??

Jones
Dixon
Whitehurst
Edwards

Jones has proven he can perform at an NFL level the others haven't.

Don't forget that Cincy signed Antonio Bryant as well. He helps Palmer but hurts Jones. Nonetheless, I still like Jones as a sleeper this year. He is definately a man to watch. I wonder if he could be moved to TE?
