1.01 for 1.02 and 1.07? Rookie draft...

Postby WTA » Mon May 17, 2010 10:55 am

12 team 20 man league, we keep 10 each year. I have #1 overall, could swing a deal to get 1.02 and 1.07. Here's my squad -

QB - Rodgers, Romo
RB - Rice, Charles, R Brown, Jacobs, K Smith
WR - Colston, S Rice, Austin, Cotchery, Driver
TE - Olsen, Pettigrew

First off, I have to cut 4 before the draft. Thinking both TE's, Driver, and Smith but haven't made my mind up yet.

So should I stick with 1.01 and take Matthews or trade down a spot to pick up the 1.07? Available vets that I would consider there along with the rookies would be Aromashodu, Antonio Bryant and Jerome Harrison...

instead of just cutting players, try to trade them. i would try to trade ronnie brown and jacobs/smith since they are both injury prone and see if you can get a top RB

can you post the guy with the 1.02 and 1.07's roster?

I would cut both TEs, Smith, and Cotchery (over Driver). I think it might be close to the end of the line for Driver, but he was still very good in a lot of games last year. Not a big fan of any of the NYJ WRs with Holmes coming on board and Sanchez having to prove that he can do more than just manage the offense.

As for the deal... I don't think it's wrong to turn down the deal if you love Matthews... but I would do it, especially considering there will be some vets available as well. This opens up options for the 1.7.

You could also take that 1.7 and combo it with a few of your RBs to get a better RB via trade.

Let us know what you do... I am curious as to how it works out.

You're really not going to be able to get much for Olsen, Pettigrew, Cotchery, Smith etc... just not good enough.

I do like your keepers though and would do the deal. While Matthews will likely outscore Best this year you don't need him and Best may turn out to be better. You can then add a quality player at 1.07 as well.

do the deal

2 first rounders almost always makes up for the one you lose. I'd do it because of the strength of your team. You don't lose all that much with the guy you get and you have another pick in the heart of the first to take a chance on.

I would personally keep the #1 pick. I think that Matthews is head and shoulders above any Player in this draft. He is in a dream situation. I think all the other backs have big question marks. Sit tight and get a true #1 stud RB.

Thanks for the responses, guys, I really appreciate it...

Here's his roster:
QB - Favre, Eli Manning
RB - D Williams, R Bush, A Foster, L Washington
WR - D Jackson, S Holmes, Bowe, Garcon
TE - Daniels

Our draft isn't until June 1st so I've got some time here. I've been trying like hell to trade some of these guys for picks instead of just having to cut them, but haven't gotten any bites...

wow his RBs really aren't that good

try to trade him kevin smith, brandon jacobs (if you dont like him, i sure dont), and donald driver for his 1.02 or 1.07, or maybe even both.

i really bet you could get the 1-2 or 1-7 for both smith and jacobs since his RBs are so bad
