Increase roster size?

Postby LS2throwed » Wed May 20, 2009 11:10 am

This was a question I had posed mid-season of last year, so I wanted to see if there was some interest for this.

Right now we have 20 for our roster max, I was proposing we take it up to 25 at the least...I didn't really feel like this was a fully dynasty last year, with 20 spots, and needing a bye week D and Kicker I felt I had to drop some guys I really wanted to keep, and it kinda takes away the deep sleeper effect...Guys who may not have an impact for a few years, you really don't have much room to stash many of those guys.

Most of my leagues were 25, I have done some larger ones also, I have just never been a fan of 20 it seems way too small but majority rules so VOTE people and state your case. ;-D

In favour of bigger rosters. The point about having to drop prospects you don't really want to for bye week kickers/defenses ring very true.

Also, I feel dynasty's should have very slim pickings in waivers anyway to place added importance on the draft and trading. Also gives it a slightly more realisitc edge in that respect.

Just a couple of questions on how to fill the spots.

Will there be compensatory picks to completely fill rosters? The draft would need to be expanded by at least 1 round to get 25 players, but some may be below the 20 numbers.

Or do we go ahead with a 4 round draft and fill the rest with waivers?

Good question, I think most rosters are at 20, so if they have the 4 picks they could just put in one waiver request once we open up the waiver process, or choose to wait until we open Free Agency and grab their last player so they don't use their waiver up yet.

Not looking now but I think most teams are at or close to 20, so there should only be a few that would need more then one player after the rookie draft...I'm one guy and I'll just pick up a FA once it's opened.

This way we don't have to start dropping players yet, not until next year at least.

I voted yes on the expansion to 25 but ONLY if we just have ONE draft of 5 rounds and include FAs and Rookies in the draft, or as previously discussed, one draft of 4 rounds and one player left to waiver/FA claims when the league site opens.
