i would decline, cause like i said, i strongly value smith this year the same as kolb, niners have an emerging crabtree, and morgan, davis has also broke out last year.
remember crabtree and his hold out...he came in out of no where and was an instant impact...he knows the offense fully this time around...morgan is in his 3rd year which is the make or break point for recievers. It always takes recievers about that time to truly break out...they have gore..that is a complete team this year.
your giving up a 6th round for kolb. that round you can grab someone else you need. i say keep smith man...you wont be upset. you can grab jacoby jones for the pick your giving up. i have high hopes for him this year.
thats just my opinion...im in my 13th year playing fantasy in a very tight league. I wouldnt take the trade, but i cant really say you are wrong if you do.
I agree with you about Smith RBwhore. I think that he has some quality weapons to work with. But, I still think the Niners are going to be a run first team. Just look at their 2 first round picks, they are committed to the power running game. Alex Smith is going to be more of a game manager, so I wouldn't expect guady passing numbers. In a 5 man keeper league a a 6th round pick for a young potential top 10 QB is too good to pass up. Kolb has all the tools to be a great fantasy QB, plus he plays in a pass happy offense. I can't imagine too many weeks that you would start Smith over Kolb.
yeah guys i hear ya im a niners fan too and i believe in alex too... but im not wasting a keeper on him when he gets draft like in the 100s... i cant probably pick him up later
i just made a trade that is good for us niner fans:
i traded: steve smith (CAR) and my 6th round pick (#71) i got: kevin kolb, vernon davis, and his 13th round pick
i basically traded a 6th round pick for kevin kolb and vernon davis. smith was going to be a lost keeper anyway.
as of now my keeper roster:
kolb, gore, benson, jennings, boldin, vernon.
i need to get down to 5 so ill probably try to trade jennings and boldin for a top WR or like boldin and benson/jennings for a top RB

FWIW I think Kolb is the better prospect than Smith.
