Omaha World Herald reporting that a Big 12 official says Nebraska may take the first step on Friday. All hell is about to break loose in the world of the BCS conferences . . . .

And yes, it seems highly likely that we're going to the Big 10. It's a good fit philosophically, culturally, and geographically. The Big 10 gets a team with nationwide appeal to help sell the Big Ten Network nationwide, while the University of Nebraska gets to share in the (literally) billions of dollars in grant money commanded by the Committee for Institutional Cooperation, which is the academic backbone of the Big 10.

This move will BY FAR benefit Nebraska more than the Big 10, but the Big 10 isn't getting a hill of beans in return.

The Husker Forum I frequent has been getting a ton of visitors from the Big 10, all of whom are very excited to see us join. Hopefully something happens soon.

I actually looked for the College Football forum, but all the d(#*m shuffling around of the boards into new categories and I couldn't find it in less than 15 seconds or so, so being the lazy arse that I am, I just stuck it here.

Being a Husker fan that works in Iowa around a bunch of Hawkeye fans, this has been all the buzz lately. I'm excited to see them get into this conference and establish new rivalries, even if I'm sad to see the old ones go to the wayside.

Agreed. They have a solid financial backing like USC. I think its going to get even worse when a few more join.

I can't believe all this stuff is happening.
