SC hit with 2 year bowl ban.

The hammer has come down....on USC at least. The program will be ban from bowl games for the next two years and will lose 30 scholarships. It kinda bothers me that Carroll get's of Scott free.

LOS ANGELES -- The NCAA threw the book at storied Southern California on Thursday with a two-year bowl ban, four years' probation, loss of scholarships and forfeits of an entire year's games for improper benefits to Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush dating to the Trojans' 2004 national championship.

USC was penalized for a lack of institutional control in the ruling by the NCAA following its four-year investigation. The reported cited numerous improper benefits for Bush and former basketball player O.J. Mayo, who spent just one year with the Trojans.

I'm bothered that Carroll gets of scot free, too. That dude knew what was going on, no question. You can't tell me that Reggie's was the only shenanigans going on there, either. You don't get RBs like crazy coming there to sit on the bench for three years when they could start as Freshmen at 100 other schools without something going on.

But it doesn't hurt my feelings one bit to see USC kicked out of bowl games for two years, and lose some schollies. Not one, little bit.

I still say that should Carroll ever try to return to college football, he face sanctions of some kind. Or the school who gives him a job face sanctions rather. If a school want's to give him a job they should have to skip out on bowl games for two seasons, forfeit 30 scholarships, and be on probation for 4 years...just like SC. It's the only way I can think to actually punish Carroll.

They definitely could've hit Carroll with a "show-cause" order like they did with two of the Baylor basketball coaches back in 2004. I'm curious as to why they didn't go that route.
