Pass on Rodgers?

Postby baddhipp2 » Mon Jun 21, 2010 8:15 pm

I'm in a 12 team , 2 man keeper with picks 1.1 and 1.2 and 2.11

1PPR/6pts TD's

My roster is

QB.
RB. MJD
RB.J.Charles
WR.
WR.
WR/RB Flex
TE

QB's- Rodgers,Rivers,Romo, Brady,Schaub, Cutler
RB's- Mathhews, Mendenhall,Grant,
WR's Austin,White,Marshall,Wayne,Rice,Colston,Boldin

Now my question is Should i pass up Rodgers and pick 2 Wrs from White, Austin, Wayne, Marshall then get a Qb like Cutler or mcnabb, kolb Flacco Type
Or should i dont mess around and just take Rodgers and white,Austin,Wayne,Marshall with that 1.1 and 1.2?

If I'm reading that right, and all TDs (including passing) are 6 TD's, then the QB position increases in importance. If I were in your shoes, I would hold onto Rodgers. He outscored Drew Brees in many leagues last year (granted 300 yards and 5 TD's came on the ground). So you have to consider Rodgers and Brees 1A and 1B at QB.

So I'd hold Rodgers and take Marshall.

If you do decide to drop Rodgers, I would take Marshall and Wayne in a PPR.

I just don't see Rodgers totals increasing this year. I am very jaded about drafting QB's early and NEVER EVER do draft a QB early. In a 2 player keeper I am taking Matthews and Marshall. White is close but I think he has reached his ceiling... Marshall can be a dominant force.

i wouldnt pass up on rodgers

And Austin, white and marshall are even in my book. Id probly go with marshall...he will get alot of receptions again.

You could grab you could grab Austin and Marshall, then try and get cutler later on...cutler is seriously underatted

Ryan Mattews is a tasty selection too

Tough call but I think I would look at Matthews and Marshall. You can grab Rivers or Romo (a great regular season QB) instead of Rodgers or even Schaub without too much dropoff.
QB: BREES, Cutler
RB: TURNER, MCGAHEE, R. JENNINGS, Leshoure, D. Williams, Hillman, Hunter, Dwyer
WR: CRUZ, GARCON, Amendola, Edwards, D. Baldwin

I don't like Rodgers this year, because of where he is being drafted. But to be honest, he is a great value if you can get him as essentially the 26th overall pick, which is about a full round after where he is drafted in redrafts. I would probably take Mathews and Austin here, but the thing is, I like Rodgers and Mathews the most out of what is available, but you'd be waiting an awfully long time to get your WR1 in that case. Then again Mathews as a flex and Rodgers at QB isn't exactly a horrible scenario. If you could get a solid combo at that next turn it might be worthwhile. Heck, getting a combo like Boldin and D Clark at the 2/3 turn would give you a beastly starting lineup if you went Rodgers/Mathews in the first.

id pass on rodgers, and hope for brady/Rivers/Romo at 2.11. go WR/WR with your 1st 2 picks and i like Roddy and Wayne ( i dont trust Wrs going to new systems-marshall, besides TO to philly, when have new WRs ever increased production after a joining a new team?)

It isn't too often great WR's (or any great skill position player)but look at the few that have - Rice, TO, Moss, Gonzalez, and even Chris Chambers all had great production with their new teams. Yes it is risky but the great ones always shine. Mediocre WR's have not had as much luck - Mushin Muhammad, Javon Walker, Roy Williams are perfect examples. The real question is which category is Marshall in? How can you not say that he is in the first.

agree with that somewhat, but from that list, the only ones that really spiked in production were TO to Philly (not to dallas), and Moss to NE (not to oakland). most of the others dropped off or maintained their same production at best. (also we forgot Houshmanzeda). i would attribute the TO and Moss increases to freakish talent and dogging it in their previous offenses, and then going to a team/system they liked better with much better QB play. This could very well be the case for Marshall (always unhappy in denver) but i dont see the huge QB upgrade in miami. they prefer to run the ball more than denver it seems. anyway, i guess this is a topic for its own thread. you got my 2 cents, so carry on...

edit: Similar concerns for Boldin...when guys switch teams, it seems to peak interest and they get overdrafted, while it usually takes time to incorporate them into new offenses.

I know for a fact that Romo, river and brady, schaub will be gone... by 2.11 ....So that would leave me flacco, cutler and Eli or Palmer type Qb...I'll be taking a big chance dont you think?
