Frank Gore

I'm a huge Frank Gore fan, and especially now with the 2 solid O-line draft picks this year, Crabtree and Vernon Davis. With that said he is one of my two keepers this year in my one league, but my worry is that he doesn't have a long term place as a keeper due to durability concerns.

With that in mind I pose this question: With my first pick this year (3rd in a 10 man league) is it too early to take Ryan Mathews? He's up to #9 in the Yahoo rankings as of 6/22 and could be the next LT in San Diego (not as good as LT but you get the point)

Would this be a dumb move?

Depends who else is not being kept. At # 3 it would be a risk but might worth it if Matthews will be a solid keeper for 5 years. Non-keeper league I wouldn't even consider Matthews at 3 or even 6

Matthews at #23 overall is a solid pick but the other psoter is correct, it depends on who else is available. It is possible someone is better but probably not by much.

Assuming everyone keeps 2, your pick is really the 23rd pick... so no I don't think it's silly at all to look at Matthews there. But like the others said, it depends on who else might be there. It also kind of depends on who your 2nd keeper is, and how many RBs/WRs you start.

I like Gore a lot for this year and for a few more after that, if he stays "relatively" healthy. He may miss a few games but he puts up big numbers when he does play.

The league is 1/2 PPR and you start QB, RB, WR, WR, WR/RB, TE, K, Def.

I am also keeping Reggie Wayne along with Frank Gore.

Some of the possible players available will be: Miles Austin, Michael Turner, Calvin Johnson, Ryan Mathews, Shonn Greene
