Jamaal Charles predictions?

Postby Minnesota Guy » Sun Jun 27, 2010 8:52 pm

What are your guys thoughts on Jamaal Charles this year? I think he has the potential to be a top 5 back with Thomas Jones might take away some scoring opportunities. What are your guys thoughts on his outlook this year? Would you take him as a #2 back? 6 pts per TD, 1 pt per 10 yards rushing/receiving.

I am not sold on him but his current ADP of 3.01 is enticing. If he goes where he has in some more knowledgeable mocks I have seen, say 2.01 to 2.06 I would probably pass on him. As a late 2nd or early 3rd rounder, I think you have to take the shot on him. This year is going to see a lot of conventional draft strategies thrown out the window.

With nearly every team carrying 2 "feature" backs now yet passing more I think the draft strategies have to reflect this and the days of thinking only RB-RB are done.

BTW, I am not sold on Charles but as a late 2nd rounder I'd have to grab him! I am pick 3rd in a 12 teamer, so 2.10 on the wraparound and I would kill to see a player like Charles there.

i see him as a very good RB 2, but dont think he is safe enough to draft as your #1 Rb. Late 2nd or early 3rd in a 10 team draft is good value imo, and maybe higher in a ppr.

not a fan...just don't see it with him.....he had good games against terrible teams...and yes he plays in WEAK division, but I see everyone high on him....I will pass and won't have to worry about drafting.....even though it's fantasy football still have a hard time drafting guys i don't like to cheer for....hense T.O. has never been on my team.......he would have to be there after the 7th round for me to consider....

Good Luck......

PPR adds value to him. I see him mid second round especially if dyanasty or keeper league as TJ doesn't have much left in the tank and I think McCluster plays a slot and Bush type role.

What has TJ done (or not done) to make you think he doesn't have much left in the tank? He's had 2700+ yards and 27 TDs in the last two years... albeit with the Jets OL. Yes he turns 32 before the season starts, and the dropoff is going to happen at some point (because it always does with RBs)... but he has shown virtually no signs of slowing down.

Regarding Charles: I think he is an upside pick if you can get him late 2nd/early 3rd round, especially in a PPR league. I think that KC is going to have to run the ball, mostly because they don't trust Cassell. I also think that KC is going to give him every opportunity to see if he can be a Chris Johnson-type back.

I also think that TJ will get a share of the carries as well.... but there will be enough carries in that offense that Charles can put up good numbers. I think his ceiling is to perform like a mid-to-low RB1, with a pretty high floor of a RB3/flex starter.

Ideally, he's a guy that I can pair with one of the "elite 4" RBs to go with a stud WR or 3rd RB at the 2nd/3rd round swing picks. But I don't think that he's a guy that will make it that far in a lot of drafts... and because I won't reach for a player that early in the draft, he probably won't end up on too many of my rosters this year.

i agree with indibuck on that. If you can land a top RB in the first, then a WR in round 2, Charles would be a nice early 3rd round pick. He's a bit risky if you take him in the 1st or early 2nd round.
