Tony Plohetski and Kevin Robbins wrote:Former University of Texas football player Cedric Benson was arrested and charged with assault with injury early today after an incident last month at Annie’s West at 706 West Sixth Street, where officials said he punched a bar employee in the face. The affidavit said the May 30 incident began at 1:50 a.m. when a fight began between Benson and an unknown person inside the bar. Club staff separated them, at which time Benson shoved a manager “in an attempt to continue the fight he was previously engaged in,” the affidavit said. Workers then asked Benson several times to leave. “Benson refused, and was escorted out of the bar,” the affidavit said. Outside, the affidavit said employees tried to prevent him from going back in. At that point, he punched “with his right fist to the left side” of an employee’s face, causing the employee to stumble backwards. He faces up to a year in jail if convicted of the Class A misdemeanor.

I want a prehensile sucker tail, and I don't want to wait fifty million years.
Just reported on Sirius NFL talk, Cedric Benson arrested for a fight in a bar a month ago. The great part about this story is that shortly after the incident they had him on for a interview where he stated that he "turned his life around". Another guy who had his second chance and may end up blowing it.
It may depend on the timeline. If essentially nothing happens legally by the start of the season, I would say 4 games. I don't know how long it takes to push a misdemeanor through court, but if he does get convicted prior or during the season, you may be looking at jail time with a suspension afterward. Losing half the season wouldn't surprise me. At this point, these guys have been sent the message - to give the NFL a black eye (literally) these days, there is just no excuse. Penalties for stupid "thug" activity like this could get harsher, because for all the PED and DUI crackdowns, it is really the "thug" image the NFL is trying desperately to leave behind and has no tolerance for.
I'm not sure if he has any prior offenses with the NFL (other than playing like crap in Chicago), but did we mention he plays for the Bengals?
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed Friday that Cedric Benson will not be suspended for his alleged role in a June bar brawl. The league looked into the situation and determined Benson was not at fault. We still think Benson is going way too early in fantasy drafts. While coach Marvin Lewis loves the power running game, the Bengals' offseason moves indicate they'll use more spread-type offensive sets, and Benson isn't a spread back. His current ADP is 19, or the mid-to-late second round and the RB12. He's our No. 19 back in non-PPR leagues and No. 23 in PPR. Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter
