Vincent Jackson will reportedly decide within the next 24 hours whether he will sign his restricted free agent tender in time to play the final six games this season.
The decision has essentially been made for him. The NFLPA has advised Jackson and Patriots OG Logan Mankins to report by October 30 if they want to accrue the six games of service time mandatory to reach unrestricted free agency in 2011. With V-Jax backed into a corner, it would be shocking if he decided against returning to the Chargers this year.

This from from 1:21 on Rotoworld, but on PTI on ESPN tonight, Anthony Joseph Reali reported that VJAX will report.

He's taken up a spot for me this long, Im holding...

...
Chargers GM A.J. Smith confirmed that he will welcome Vincent Jackson back and expects him to be a "major contributor."

"I believe he will do well," Smith said. "He always has been a worker, stays in shape, knows our offense. After a little game-speed adjustment, I would expect him to be a major contributor." As do we. If Jackson remains available on your shallow league's waiver wire, it's time to pick him up as a valuable fantasy playoff asset.

...The player rep for Vincent Jackson tells Profootballtalk.com that the restricted free agent will sign his tender and report to the Chargers next Friday.

Jackson doesn't have to sign and report until 4:00 p.m. next Saturday to accrue the necessary service time, so he's coming in a day early. He will sit out three games due to his Roster Exempt status, putting him on track for a return in Week 12 (Nov. 28). Oct. 21 - 4:14 pm et

Here's another take on what Mr.Joshua posted earlier. YahooSports:

Chargers GM A.J. Smith is optimistic that Jackson (suspension) will be able to perform at a high level once he is eligible to play on Nov. 28, the San Diego Union Tribune reports. "I believe he will do well," Smith said. "He always has been a worker, stays in shape, knows our offense. After a little game-speed adjustment, I would expect him to be a major contributor."

Recommendation: Though Smith doesn't call the Chargers' plays, his comments suggest that the organization has no plans to hold Jackson's self-imposed absence from the team against him. It's obvious that the Chargers are a better team when Jackson is on the field and from his perspective, the better he plays down the stretch, the more he can command in free agency. The bottom line here is that those who have held on to Jackson (or who make play for him now) should get a handful of productive games out of him at a critical juncture of the fantasy season.

Hmmmm. Sounds like Jackson may be useful around playoff time. I told you guys this last week and was, oh so rudely, chastised as being wrong. Well... Nanner nanner nanner! Never underestimate the ability of any corporate entity to do a 180 when they think it's in their favor and/or will make them money. :-)

I really don't think he will make a difference or be a great fantasy addition. He will play against Indy, Oakland, and my playoffs end in week 14 with KC. Those are some pretty stout pass D's who hold WR's to pretty low numbers. Indy obviously isn't the best D but they are 11th overall against the pass...oakland is 5th, and KC is 7th. I'm skeptical for him to be a great fantasy addition.

From Rotoworld:

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, "those in the know overwhelmingly believe" Vincent Jackson will be a Charger in 2011. Analysis: Yahoo Sports reported late Monday that Jackson has asked the NFL to either pay him $10 million or make him an unrestricted free agent. The Chargers reportedly remain staunchly against signing V-Jax to a long-term contract, and expect him to play out the season on a franchise tag. It is possible the NFL will assure Jackson that this will be the last franchise tag of his career, or that he -- along with Logan Mankins -- will be compensated for money lost in 2010.

Still alot of uncertainty wiht him. Im staying away unless I get some concrete news of him staying on SD. He is ruining his career. His agent seems to be giving him bad advice. The guy just needs to play and prove he is worth something. He has already taken a huge step back in his career

Now this idiot is holding up the whole CBA??

Per Roto:

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the players are not planning to vote on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement proposal until Monday.
A previous "high-ranking source" told ESPN that a vote was possible on Saturday. Schefter confirms two sides have had "constructive dialogue" since Thursday night, which is a good sign. However, the players want to do a vote "on their own terms," and one of the biggest obstacles is the demand of Chargers franchise player Vincent Jackson to either receive monetary compensation or unrestricted free agency as part of the CBA. At this point, we don't anticipate any NFL transactions before the middle of next week. The tentative target date for full-blown free agency may be two Sundays from now.

How is one guy's demands affecting the whole?? This to me is selfish and ridiculous. I am sure he is gonna piss off laot of mid and lower level players who have been adversely affected byt the holdout. Those same players may get a crack at him on the field at some point during the season, once there is a season..

Probably well known by now, but VJAX signed for one year.
