Tough keeper decisions

Postby kervtrain » Thu Jul 22, 2010 7:52 pm

Im in a 10 team, 2 QB keeper league on yahoo. We get to keep three guys and whatever round they were drafted is the pick we give up to keep them. Or if kept from a previous year their round goes down by 1. QBs get 1 point/25 yards, 4 for a TD and -1 for an INT. RB/WR get 1 point/10 yards, 6 for a TD, and -2 for a lost fumble. Also, if you keep two first rounders, you must give up a 1st, 2nd, and 5th round pick as a penalty. We start 2 QBs, 3 WRs, 2 RBs, a WR/RB, and a TE.

My potential keepers:
Brees- 1st round
Steven Jackson- 1st round
Reggie Wayne- 4th round
Shonn Greene- 11th round
Matt Ryan- 11th round
Pierre Thomas- 13th round
Sidney Rice- 14th round
Its so tough trying to maximize value. Right now I'm leaning towards Brees, Wayne, and Greene.
WHIR, Thanks.

In a 2 QB league it is hard to throw Brees back. I have to assume 10-12 QB will be kept so I think I would keep him but it is close.

Best value to me is

Greene for an 11th
Ryan for an 11th
Rice for a 14th

I am losing faith in PT but he is a good deal for a 13th as well. It is actually a very tough call so I would look at cutting deals first. You have a lot of quality pieces that you can deal off and see if you can get a great keeper with great value. EG: Deal Greene and PT for Ray RIce if he has a 10th round tender... something along those lines anyways.

I'll think about this and try and give you more definitive answer but I would really look at cutting some deals.

Thats what sucks about our league. I cut deals during the season to make a title run and it didnt quite work out, and we don't have a system set up to do off season trades.

dude you got to keep brees, I'm sure alot of first round picks will be kept and so there probably wont be much left at the 1st round value. Then go with wayne and green, this will be you core, and im sure some good picks will fall to you in the 2nd and 3rd round. keep those 3 you wont regret it.

Also, Sidney Rice has great value for years to come, but what happens to his fantasy stock when Favre finally retires?

I like the Brees, Ryan, and a side of Rice for the value you get. Although Greene might be good in the place of Rice, but starting 3 WR and a flex, I'd go with Rice.

I would keep Brees, Greene and Rice, myself.

Return the favor?

I would keep Brees, Greene and Ryan. I think it's smart to lock up 2 Qb's in a 2 QB league. You are getting good value with Ryan.

The value of our QB's went down from last year. It was 6 for a td and -3 for an int, and now its 4 for a TD and -1 for an int. Im definitely keeping Brees and Greene, and then i think im gonna flip a coin between Wayne, Rice, and PT. Any other thoughts?
