Drafting 7th in a 12 team 2 QB league...TAKE ROMO?!?!? WHIR!

Postby JaysFan » Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:56 am

So I am in a 12 team 2 QB league where we start QB, QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, W/T, W/R/T, W/R/T, D, D, LB, LB, LB, DE, DE, CB, CB, S, BN, BN, BN, BN

I am almost certain the first 4 picks will be Brees, Rodgers, Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson. My educated guess, knowing the guys in my league is that Manning will be picked in the top 5 as well, although, the guy who picks at #5 has had Tom Brady for 3 years in a row so he could be gone as well. That leaves 2 of MJD, Ray Rice and Tony Romo for me at pick 7, though there has been some speculation that Adrian Peterson could fall to me (seems to good to be true but you don't know my leaguemates). Initially, I thought I'm just going to take the best RB available and then snag a guy like Rivers, Cutler or Kolb at pick 18 in the 2nd round, so I'd have say Rice and Kolb as my first 2 picks. I know that the guys behind me will have to take a QB since they won't be seeing a pick for a while after round 2 so I either need a qb in the 1st or 2nd unless I wanna end up with Chad Henne as my #1, not that he's so bad but not a #1. Anyways, if I took Romo, whom I believe could be the #1 fantasy QB this year with my first pick, I'd likely have a RB like Jamal Charles or Ryan Matthews as my RB1 worst case.

So, the question is, would I rather have a top 2 of Rice and Kolb or a top 2 of Romo and Matthews? (SEE LEAGUE SCORING BELOW)

I'd still take AD, MJD or Rice. You will have an advantage over them at the RB spot but they will have an advantage over you at the QB spot. In round 2 you grab a QB for certain though.

Well with the 0.5pt per comp / inc that is huge, I was in a league similar to this in the past and the qb's have really won games all by themselves in the past. I think that I would go into your draft, have all of your players ranked and then simply go off of your rankings and you never know who will fall to you. The owner who has had Brady for 3yrs in a row may decide to make a change and I think there are some other qb's who can be had a little later. Schaub may still be around in rd 2 / 3, I think that Palmers status has to go up some, Favre if he comes back, Flacco. So if that elite rb, such as AP is there take him. Good luck.

No way Schaub makes it to the 3rd round in a 12 team 2 QB league.

Romo will certainly have a good year throwing to Austin, Bryant, and Witten, but I don't think taking him in the 1st justifies taking a weaker RB in the 2nd. Relying on Charles or Mathhews as your No. 1 is pretty iffy IMO. Especially if you think you could get Rivers, Cutler, or Kolb in the 2nd Rd.

Help with mine?

Too early for Romo. Here is who you take:

ANDRE JOHNSON!!!!

PPR....12/TD.....STUD

Take Flacco later...he will be posting numbers this year. Then take Palmer in a later round and you will be fine as he will bounce back.
