Draft Position - 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?

Postby meyerslj » Wed Jul 28, 2010 11:49 am

I'm in a 14-team league - fairly standard scoring and roster (no PPR). We get to choose our draft position, and I have the first choice. Snake Draft - non keeper.

One outside factor - I am in another league (both are money leagues) where I was randomly assigned the #1 pick (again, a snake draft, non keeper - 12 teams).

I don't think I want both my teams depending on the same top guy - if he gets hurt, then I'm totally done.

So I'm thinking of selecting the #2 slot to get either Johnson or AP, or even the #3 slot to get MJD. Or is that too big of a drop-off. This draft will be held a week before my other draft.

Then in my 2nd draft, where I have the #1 pick, I can choose whoever I did not get in my first draft.

Does this make sense? Would anyone advise choose a spot lower than #3? I have seen the statistics showing which draft positions correlate to championships, where #1 and #2 are best.

I would want to pick 2nd or 3rd. Let the #1 pick have the pressure of making the choice. For me, MJD is not that big a drop from AP at the #3 spot.

Here's mine:

I personally think 3 is the best spot to draft this year. You get whoever is left from AP, CJ and MJD. Any of those guys could be the #1 RB this year. Plus, I like getting the earlier pick in the 2nd round.

problem solved

Take the first pick in both leagues. If you don't want to have the same back in both, take cj in one and ap in the other.
