I have joined my first PPR league and have received the 2nd overall pick in a serpentine draft. Even though I'm still debating over my 1st pick (AD, MJD, or Ray Rice) my question is in regards to my 3rd round selection:
If my fantasy draft goes like the majority of mock drafts that I have been a part of, then I will have the option of Ryan Matthews, Jamaal Charles, Greg Jennings, Sidney Rice, or Matt Shaub at the 3.02 spot; however, I have been thinking about drafting Dallas Clark at that position. My question is, good idea or bad idea? I just look at the # of receptions Clark had last season; he was essentially a WR anyways. Thoughts?
Welcome to the Cafe. PPR drafting strategies vary greatly depending on position and players available. Drafting from the 2 hole almost dictates that you take a combo of RBs and WRs with your first three picks. I think taking a TE can wait another round. Don't be afraid to do a lot of mock drafts in PPR formats.
I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

Can't say that its a bad pick, but I would wait on the TE. Assuming your first pick is a RB (and it should be), unless there is a big run on WR you should be able to pick up a high quality WR with your second or third round pick.

I'd personally just wait. TEs are the deepest position this year. You can get someone like Zach Miller for super cheap later on and he has a ton of upside. Even Celek you can generally get a couple of rounds later and I don't see much drop off from him to Clark. Grab another RB/WR.
I was just looking at last years reception totals and Dallas Clark had about 34 more receptions than Zach Miller; that's why I am tempted to select him so high. I expect a big run on WRs and I don't think there will be any "elite" WRs left on the board. I'm thinking there will be high ranked QB on the board, but I was thinking that perhaps taking Clark would be more beneficial due to his high reception totals. I'll have to wait and see how the draft plays out.
I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to assist me.
assuming you get ADP and say Miles Austin you'd be better IMO with DeSean Jackson or best available WR at 3-2 if your not happy with the WR crop left at that point take a 2nd RB, and 2-3 rd's later taking Daniels
I did not read all of the above but I would no question WAIT for a TE. Get Carson, Cooley, Owen D type guys much later. IMO.
I would lock down a top RB in AP,MJD,RICE in that order then you will have a solid shot at Some good WR's and I bet a really good RB falls to you. Dont draft the "names" go for value picks. Dont reach just take what is given to you.
My draft is now in full swing and I ended up with Chris Johnson at the #2 slot. There has been an insane run on WRs in the 1st round: Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Austin Miles, Larry Fitzgerald, and Brandon Marshall have all been chosen, in that order.
I think you can wait a round and get a decent TE in the 4th round and hopefully you don't have a run on the TE's. Now, if you don't have your second RB by now you most likely want to get it now because there's not a whole lot of depth. I like Ryan Matthews this year to do well, so you might want to consider him. Otherwise I'd get Schaub because he can put up numbers that are good for the 3rd round.
