J. Charles, R. Matthews, S. Greene or D. Williams

Postby nategi » Sun Aug 01, 2010 12:12 pm

I have the first pick in our draft today, it's an 8 team league and everyone has kept 5 keepers already. I have decided I will pick a RB, I have a good idea who I want but I'd like to hear other opinions, the league is TD-6pts, Rush yards and Rec yards= 15 yards per point, Rec=1 pt

thanks

I'd rank them Charles, Williams, Mathews, Greene. Greene gets no receptions (literally none last year) and Mathews is a risk as an unknown player. I think Williams is a great player in a great situation, but Stewart is also a great RB. Charles has TJones in town to likely take some goal line looks, but when he's busting off 60 yard TDs, that isn't much of an issue. Charles is also 3 years younger which should provide more years of production.

D Will (they have to run the ball....)
R Mathews (since it's a keeper always good to get the top young stud)
S Greene
J Charles (just don't like him, the team, thinking he is way to high this year)

Good luck!!!!

In a PPR league, I rank them as follows;

1. J. Charles - PPR Monster. The offense can only improve. With Weis in as coordinator and Cassel with another year of experience under his belt, the offense will be better and Charles will benefit. While T. Jones may steal some carries, Charles will undoubtedly benefit from Cassel dump-downs and plays of the like. Plus, off-season reports have stated how high the Chiefs are on Charles.

2 (TIE). Mathews - Beneficiary of a great offense. Touches will be similar to D. Will, with 15-16 carries a game and Sproles taking a lot of the 3rd down and passing packages. Will get a lot of red-zone looks. Not as talented as the other 3.

D. Will- Will put up similar numbers to last year. Showed how replaceable he is though when he went down at the end of last year and J. Stewart absolutely stole the show. Expect a 50/50 split from a team that will run the ball 30-35 times a game. If you are okay with that, then he's a great RB2.

3. Greene- Standard scoring, I put Shonn Greene up at 1 or a close 2. But he will not catch the ball whatsoever and his best case scenario is a Turner 2008 Lite year. So if you can live with the occasional games of 70 yards, 0 recs and 0 tds in a PPR league, he will reward you with a monster game here or there. But when you have these other 3 backs that offer great pass catching ability out of the backfield, I'd pass on Greene.

Regardless, all 4 of these guys will be great RB2s.
