DRAFT PICK TRADES

Postby JackedSierra » Wed Aug 04, 2010 9:04 am

12 team league. would you trade your 1st and 2nd round picks, 5th and 20th overall, in return for a 3,4,5,6,7,8 rd picks? i already have an extra 7 rd pick from a previous trade so it would give me 13 total picks by the end of the 8th round. is this worth it not getting a 1st and 2nd rd pick?

A tool I like to use when dealing w/ picks is the draft pick value calculator on footballguys.com. give it a shot. good luck.

What exact picks would you be getting in return? I wouldn't mind giving up the #5, as the big 4 would be gone (CJ, Peterson, Rice and MJD). What concerns me is giving up the #20 as well, as what would your first overall pick be?

You can still land a very good QB, maybe 2 with all those picks (Schaub, Romo, Palmer - one of those should fall to you in the 3rd).
You can still land some decent WRs in those middle rounds.
You can still target a top 3 TE with those extra picks as well.

I once traded away a 1st for a 2nd, 4th and 5th and turned out ok.

In a 12 team league, you'd be giving up a whole lot in that your first pick would now be #29.

That's telling me that you're not getting a top 5 QB, a top 15 RB, or a top 5 WR for sure. You'd have to get a RB at #29, and you'd have someone like Wells, Mathews, Mendy, Greene, or Charles there maybe. You'd have to make up in depth what you're giving up in a more sure thing. What are your starting requirements?
