Please Elaborate Opinions needed: TRADE

Hello everyone!

So here it is! We are in a three player keeper league and before my trade my keepers were: Adrian Peterson, Aaron Rodgers, and Steve Smith CAR. Now the way the rules work is that if I trade any of my draft picks for a player then I can STILL ONLY keep three players. So please give your elaborate and honest views on this.

Trade:
Team A received: Rashard Mendenhall and a 12th Round pick

Team B received: 1st Round pick from Team A

I am TEAM A, and since I traded my First Round pick for a player (Mendenhall) now my Keepers are: Adrian Peterson, Rashard Mendenhall and Aaron Rodgers (but lost my first round pick (7th overall)).

What I am a little bobbled about is that I could either have:
A: Adrian Peterson, Rashard Mendenhall, and Aaron Rodgers and Draft Picks: 2-12, 12
or
B: Adrian Peterson, Steve Smith CAR, Aaron Rodgers and Draft Picks: 1-12

I went through the league and got an idea of who everyone's keepers would most likely be and here are the top free agents available:
Ryan Matthews, Roddy White, Jamaal Charles, Sidney Rice, Beanie Wells, Jahvid Best, Greg Jennings, Cedric Benson, Marques Colston, Dallas Clark, Steve Smith NYG, Joseph Addai, Vernon Davis

So I have the seventh (7th) overall pick out of twelve teams. Please give me some valued and elaborate opinions. Thank you!

I'd say do the trade. Mendenhall is better than any other guy that you'd be draftin for. And Steve Smith is gettin up there in age and probably will not do as well this year. Smith isn't a good keeper imo.
