Pick 9 of 12 in redraft PPR, WHIR!!!

Postby LaRock » Sat Aug 07, 2010 12:18 pm

Scoring system is in my sig...please note our STRICT roster guidelines.

As the title says, I picked 9th out of 12. Due to roster limitations we only have a 15-round draft. With our scoring system it seems RBs are pretty valuable. Please let me know what you think:

Picks by round:

1. Fitz
2. Turner
3. Stewart
4. Greene
5. Bowe
6. Cutler
7. Z Miller OAK
8. Gaffney
9. Cooley
10. Roethlisberger
11. Britt
12. MIN D
13. SD D
14. Gould
15. Rackers

I've never picked this low before, so I'm not sure what to think really. Please let me know what you think and where I might look to change my draft strategy to strengthen my team.

Thanks, and please leave a link so I can return the favor!
Passing TDs = 4
All other TDs = 6
100 yd rushing bonus = 4
PPR
All other basic scoring

VERY strict rosters...MUST have:

2 QBs (start 1)
3 RBs (start 2)
4 WRs (start 2)
2 TEs (start 1)
2 D/STs (start 1)
2 Ks (start 1)
Flex--ANY offensive player

The picks I like...

2 - Can't believe Turner slipped that far.
4 - Ditto for Greene, wow.. he's going to be a monster
7 - With Campbell throwing, he will shine but could have waited I think
10 - Roethlisberger, suspension aside why is this dude slipping so far?
11 - Britt, could be a big year for the best WR in Tentown
12 - Min D, usually goes earlier

The picks I don't like...

1 - With Leinart throwing Fitz is a second rounder at best. PPR helps though
3 - Little high for Stewart I think
6 - Cutler does not fit in with Martz's offense. They added nothing offensively
8 - Gaffney will be behind Thomas and Royal in a bad offense, and he's old

Overall, you'll want someone other than Cutler at QB while Big Ben sits.. but when he comes back roll with him. The loss of Holmes doesn't hurt as much because of Wallace.

Love the Turner/Greene combo at starting RB... and Fitz/Bowe is decent at WR... Stewart at flex, could do worse but not ideal in a PPR.

Gaffney needs to go.

And talk to your commish. Requiring you to fill your bench with spec positions is kind of lame.

In a PPR with RB weighted heavier than other positions guys like CJ,MJD,Rice,Gore and SJax are golden as is AP of course. I assume these were most likely the top 6 picks. Then it should have gone DeAngelo,Turner, Mendenhall, AJ...how did you possibly take Fitz with #9. That was a mistake in my opinion. But as it turned out the 10-12 pickers seemed to overlook Turner's abilities and he miraculously fell to you on the way back down. Very fortunate.

Greene - awesome value in 4th round. Ditto for Stewart in 3rd....many are calling for him to seriously breakout this season. I'm a big Bowe fan, he's a great talent and with KC's improving offense is a nice WR2. Big Ben in the 10th is great as well, his suspension may be cut to 4 games. You will probably need him.

Who was available at QB instead of Cutler in 6th round? Not overly fond of that pick. Gaffney at 8 is puzzling too. And why 2 D's?

I agree with the assessments so far. Larry Fitz should not of been so high, but guys like Turner and Greene shouldn't of been so low. I wouldn't be too distraught over anything here because I do believe that your roster nevertheless has potential. Hawking preseason camp news may land you a good pickup or two. There are going to be fluctuations in players' value before the season begins that you could definitely try to benefit from.

I'm also high on Cutler. Week 1 splits heavily in this man's favor; the ideal tune-up game. I think he gets 4k/30 TD easy, but would be better if you could platoon him with another QB of equal value/potential like Kolb.

Pretty much ditto to what has been said. Fitz is a bit of a reach in the first (even with PPR), and Greene and Turner are great picks where you got them (again, even with PPR). Although, I do not play in PPR leagues, so I guess I don't understand the drop off with backs like Turner who don't catch a lot of passes. I like Zach Miller, but I feel like 7th round was a little early and you probably could have waited. Cutler, as much as I dislike him, will surely have a good (fantasy) season after he throws 700 times, unless he dies from the 10 sacks a game. The RBs are pretty solid, and that bonus is looking pretty good. I don't much care for Gaffney and Britt as your backup WRs, but hopefully you won't have to rely on them much. Solid roster, but nothing to brag about IMO.
