Dwayne Jarrett and rookie Brandon LaFell started at receiver in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets.
Kenny Moore was originally going to start along with Jarrett, but it appears that he's fallen out of the race. The No. 2 job is coming down to Jarrett and LaFell, though a committee approach is also a possibility.

WRs Brandon LaFell vs. Kenny Moore, Dwayne Jarrett for the No. 2 WR position -- For the second straight week, nobody emerged in the battle for the No. 2 receiver spot opposite Steve Smith. Moore made one reception for 26 yards despite being targeted seven times. Rookie Brandon LaFell had four balls thrown his way but caught only one for 15 yards. Dwayne Jarrett was the target on four short passes and caught three for 17 yards. Are we sure the No. 2 receiver is still on the roster as coaches say? Maybe it will take the return of Smith for the others to shine. Smith is back to practice, but did not play Saturday night.

So basically it looks like its gonna be a committee at least to start until one of the three actually wants to step up and be the #2. Yahoo does actually make a good point tho, any success out of one or more of these three is solely dependent on the success of Steve Smith. That being said as dumb as this sounds I may actually pick the WR3 for the Panthers to out produce the WR2. I know, odd, but SS will be doubled at least, and I would love the slot player in that set with all the eyes on SS and the far side, LaFell fits that bill the best imo.
