Brady Quinn will have to hold off rookie Tim Tebow to keep the Broncos' No. 2 quarterback job behind Kyle Orton.

Quinn has been the clear No. 2 through offseason workouts and early camp, but recently Tebow has been getting more and more snaps. Quinn is still dealing with inconsistency, which could wind up costing him a roster spot on game days. Coach Josh McDaniels has expressed a hesitancy to go with three quarterbacks, and it's known he wants to keep Tebow active for special packages.

Won't drop him but you can downgrade Tebow safely.

Broncos signed QB Kyle Orton to a one-year, $9 million contract extension through 2011.

The deal includes $5.5 million in guarantees. This is a much deserved reward for Orton's excellent training camp as well as an acknowledgment that he's light years ahead of Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn in coach Josh McDaniels' offense. It's no longer safe to assume that Tebow will take over the offense late in the season, and he may be a year and a half to two years from seeing the starting lineup. Orton still falls shy of franchise QB status, so his Dynasty value doesn't get much of a bump.
