Last year was a different scenario. Haley was walking into KC as a rookie HC, who had never seen Charles take a snap (and Charles didn't do much of anything his rookie season), while Johnson was the established veteran starter. Coming into this year, Haley saw what Charles can do with the ball in the hands, and watched him tear teams up through the final 8 games. He's not putting that talent back on the bench.

That's pretty much what I was gonna say. Charles only had 67 carries going into that season, and there was very little to go off of in terms of relying on him as a starter. LJ also had a pretty solid season the year prior averaging 4.5 YPC and was still under 30 years old. Charles has a much bigger track record to go off of now, and TJ really hasn't shown that he is good enough to keep Charles on the bench.


McCluster isn't a RB, he's gonna get some carries, but he's really a slot WR who will just be used all over the place. Their trying to see what they have with him, and they are trying to keep Charles usage down and not overwork him. Charles is gonna lead the team in carries, and I think he'll get enough carries/touches to put up numbers that top last years.

I picked him up in the 4th round. My other RBs are Ryan Grant, Ahmad Bradshaw, and LT. Any thoughts on the Cheifs' starting back??

I spent a late 3rd rounder on him.

Reports have changed on him throughout the preseason. At first, Jones was taking all of the first team reps. Some said it was a motivational tactic and some said the coach just doesn't like Charles. By the last game, Jones hadn't done much to impress and was nursing an owwwie. But Charles has been solid.

I think it becomes 70/30 Charles.
