Westbrook a viable pickup?

Postby Shake'N'Bake » Mon Aug 16, 2010 8:36 pm

I just heard Brian Westbrook got signed by the 49ers, do you think he will get a good amount of carries because of Coffee retiring? Would he be better than Jerious Norwood on ATL?

I've had Westy on my roster for the past 7 yrs and think he's a much better RB than Norwood as far as contributing to your team. Norwood has yet to practice because of his lingering hip injury and the Falcons proved last season that Snelling is going to get the majority of the backup duty. I know the 49ers are high on this rookie RB they've got, but he doesn't bring the experience and receiving skills to the table that Westbrook does.

I just don't know what Westy will bring to the table for 2010. I am in the camp that if Gore goes down Dixon gets 1st adn 2nd carries with Westy being a 3rd down back. I also think if Gore stay healthy Westy ends up with about 100 touches making him fantasy useless. There may be a better option on the wire for you.
