Matt Leinart

The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers observes that Matt Leinart has been "playing tentatively" in Cardinals camp.

Somers suggests that Leinart's tentativeness has led to too many check-downs with big plays open downfield, and a number of his passes have been late. Leinart's deliberateness is nothing new. Despite one of the game's most talented receiver corps, Leinart offers Orton-esque fantasy upside. If that.

Never did like this guy. I just don't think he has what it takes to be an top NFL QB. Can he muddle through for a few years, sure. IS he ever going to meet the expectations of where he was drafted, I don't think so.

I don't either, it seems like he will have a Cody Carlson type of career.

With Leinart's 'tentativeness', how has Skelton's offseason looked thus far? Any chance we see this big kid with a cannon for an arm early in the year?

Postby moochman » Sat Sep 04, 2010 1:34 pm

According to scrawl on NFLTV and now espn, the Cardinals have informed Matt Leinart that he will be released. I sit here stunned and amused.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that Leinart, the free agent quarterback released by the Cardinals this weekend, has agreed to terms with the Texans on a one-year deal.

In Houston, Leinart won't have any chance of unseating the starter, Matt Schaub, so he has apparently accepted the fact that he has to be a backup, at least for now. Really, he had no other choice.

Oh, now that's funny.
What is to become of the Polish rifle, Dan Orlovsky?
Hey, maybe the prima-dona will learn from his humbling to keep his yap shut and prove it on the field, during practice, and in the clubhouse. He should have learned: If you can't be good, be a good teammate.
