Hey guys, thanks for looking. I'm in a 10-team league and could use some guidance. Should I keep the big gun Michael Turner or spread my wealth and take advantage of a flex-spot?
The trade: I give: Michael Turner I get: Ryan Mathews, Jonathan Stewart
Thanks for your thoughts/opinions!
Here's my team: QB - Tom Brady WR - Reggie Wayne WR - Brandon Marshall RB - Michael Turner RB - Shonn Greene TE - Vernon Davis WR/RB/TE - Marion Barber Bench - Hakeem Nicks, WR Bench - Mike Wallace, WR Bench - Michael Bush, RB Bench - LaDainian Tomlinson, RB Bench - Eli Manning, QB
I think value is about even if you think (and I do) that Stewart will get less carries in CAR than DeAngelo Williams.
If you have a weak roster, I would say make the trade. But I really like your roster... I think you should stay put and roll with Turner.... I think he has the potential to be a top-3 RB in non-PPR leagues.
While I am big on Stewart this year he still has to split carries with DeAngelo. And Matthews is unproven. Turner's #'s the past 2 seasons: GP/ATT/YDS/TD
2008: 16/376/1,699/17 2009: 11/178/871/10 [projected to 16 games 259/1,267/14]
I don't think you can trade those #'s away.

I would jump on Mathews and Stewart. And I'm a guy that actually likes Turner, but Mathews is BOSS. Just saw him gash my Cowboys 4th ranked run defense in the pre-season game here. He was getting 8 and 9 yards on alot of carries, and still finding a way to get 4 and 5 yards even when first contact was near the LOS. I think Mathews is in for a big year, and throwing Jon Stewart on top seals the deal.
I think it's a good deal Valuewise as well. But I don't think you need to do it. You would definitley have more depth, but as of now, I think you have a strong starting lineup. I think I'd stay put, unless you really think you need the depth. Sometimes too much depth is a bad thing. If you have 6 guys for 5 spots, you're gonna have to bench one each week, and you won't always make the right choice. But then again, with byes, injuries, etc. Depth is a good thing. Hmmmm, did I just talk myself out of my answer? Keep Turner!!
