Greg Jennings a keeper in the 3rd? Pick 4. [WHIR]

Postby glackk » Sat Aug 21, 2010 5:41 pm

Keeper declarations are due this weekend and I could use advice on who to hold on to. You lose a specific round for a keeper based on where he was drafted last year (or kept from a previous year).

10 teams, non-ppr, 4 player keeper league. Starting QB, 3 WR, 2RB, WR/RB flex, TE, K, DEF.

I do know my draft spot, so I'm including the specific pick I'd be losing below too.
My choices (round they'd cost me):

Greg Jennings (3rd, pick 24)
Ronnie Brown (4th, pick 37)
Tony Gonzalez (5th, pick 44)
Joseph Addai (6th, pick 57)
Reggie Bush (7th, pick 64)
Donald Brown (9th, pick 84)
Tim Hightower (9th, pick 84)
Chris Chambers (10th, pick 97)
Owen Daniels (13th, pick 124)
Ahmad Bradshaw (15th, pick 144)
Pierre Garcon (18th, pick 177)
Hakeem Nicks (18th, pick 177)

I'm deciding between Greg Jennings, Joseph Addai, Ahmad Bradshaw, Pierre Garcon, and Hakeem Nicks.

I'm high on Jennings this season and think he could be a top 5 WR. Addai is a decent value for a 6th round pick, but Bradshaw, Garcon, and Nicks are all steals for a late round. Right now Garcon is the odd man out, but I keep waffling. Help!

WHIR of course. ;-D

Based on value... Addai, Bradshaw, Nicks and Garcon. Now, the question is who are you going to lose out on if you keep Jennings. 48 players are being kept so there is zero chance Jennings gets back to you in the 3rd. Throw Garcon back and keep Jennings.

Jennings ADP is lower than 24 I believe. However, I think he could be a top 5 receiver this year. He would be one of my choices. I'd also go with Nicks (18), Bradshaw (15) and Daniels (13). My thinking with Daniels is before he got hurt last season he was on pace for over 1,000 yards and 10 TD's. Those are very good #'s for a WR but outstanding #'s for a TE. Reports I've seen have Daniels fully recovered and ready for week 1 and at a 13th round pick the risk is minimal. Addai is a bum and won't duplicate those TD #'s from last year. Not worth a keeper.

I'd probably waffle with that choice too. I think I'd go with your gut and leave Garcon out. As much as Addai might not duplicate the #'s, I'll be interested to see what kind of year Garcon has. His biggest appeal right now is the fact that you don't have to give up much to keep him. I just think you'll be better off w/ Jennings, Addai, Bradshaw and Nicks.

I'd keep Jennings. I'd say is ADP is probably just under 24 in a redraft league...so in a keeper league like this, he may be 1st/2nd round talent. And like the poster above said, I think he could be a top 5 WR this year too.

I like Jennings a lot this year - although his ADP may be a few picks after 24, his upside makes him worth it, in my opinion.

I am very big on Bradshaw this year - you would be getting him for free with only having to give up pick 144.

I would also round out with Garcon and Nicks. I am higher on Nicks, but I think Garcon has a good chance to break out this year. He is a solid WR who played well last year; and I am not a huge (fantasy) Reggie Wayne fan.

To me, it comes down to Garcon vs Addai. I think Garcon is much, much better value than Addai. Addai is a decent RB but there really isn't any upside with him.

So keep those WR's, along with Bradshaw, then go draft some RB's! Good luck!

Help with mine?

Thanks for the replies.

I was originally considering Owen Daniels as well for value, but his ability to come back as strong after such a bad injury worries me. I'd rather not have to deal with it.

On Garcon vs Addai...yes, Garcon is probably the better value, but I'm much more likely to actually play Addai (and I don't think I'll be able to get him in the 6th if I let him go). Garcon is still the 3rd best receiver on his team after Wayne and Dallas Clark.

I would keep Jennings AND Garcon. I think Garcon is about to have a great year. Why keep Nicks over Garcon? Garcon has a better QB and is primed to take the number 2 role over in Indy...and how was Wayne as the #2 in Indy? Great.
