Rate my draft (I will in return)

Postby jackarmani » Sun Aug 22, 2010 3:49 pm

Just done my 12 team draft (non-ppr), 6 points for all TDs (passing/receiving/rushing), 1 point per 10 yards rushing/25 yards passing/10 yards receiving). I start 1qb/2rb/2wr/1te/1k/1dst each week

QB: Donovan Mcnabb/Matt Ryan
RB: Adrian Peterson/Jahvid Best/Justin Forsett/Derrick Ward/Steve Slaton
WR: Roddy White/Greg Jennings/dwayne bowe/derrick mason
TE:Jason Witten
K: Matt Prater
DST: Eagles

I had the 2nd overall pick and got royally screwed over on running backs. Took peterson in the first and then roddy white/greg jennings in 2nd/3rd. Between my 1st and 2nd picks - 12 running backs were taken, between my 3rd and 4th picks another 9 running backs were taken.

What do you guys reckon of my draft?

I think you're in a fairly solid position. Only starting two RB's really helps your team. I can't imagine anyone has as solid of WR's as you. In a 12 team league I would give this draft an 8. I think you got two solid QB's who on any given weekend could score you solid points. Key will be picking the correct RB2. I like your roster. ;-D

Yeah the lack of extra starters helps. You need a 2nd RB, I don't think any of those other guys can be relied on for a season. Bowe and Mason should make good trade bait. QB platoon should be sufficient, although upgrading there might be helpful too.

Ok guys, i have dropped derrick ward and picked up bernard berrian.

Made it clear to the guys in my league that i'm looking to upgrade at rb. But i need to give realistic offers.

Should I try and package one of Forsett/Best and one of Bowe/Mason/Berrian for a better number 2 rb?

Or should i try and package one of roddy white/greg jennings and forsett/best. And try and get a low end number 1 rb?

Which of these do you reckon would be better for me? And more realistic to be accepted?

From what I see, you don't have a RB2 but you do have a RB1, so go after a RB2. There's no point to deplete your WR depth on another RB1 unless you can just get a great deal. Go after a Greene, Charles, Grant, etc.

don't be so quick to pass up on Best.

The Lions worked on the O-Line in the off season, Stafford is now in his 2nd year, Burleson was added, and the Lions are not a RBBC team.

Best should get about 22 carries a game and he's a back that will make the most of them. He's averaging something like 6 yards a carry in the preseason, which I know is a small sample size, but he's working for those yards. He's putting moves on and making defenders miss, he was the fastest RB at the combine, and he has no problem running between the tackles.

Also, Stafford has looked to him a lot in the receiving game already so even when he isn't getting touches, he'll be getting looks.

Absolute WORST case scenerio he's going to put up RB2 worthy numbers but I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him in the top 15 RBs by the end of the season... and... it's a stretch but maybe even top 10.

As is, in your RB2 spot, he's no risk, high reward. Anyone else youre going to be able to get for him is risky... Jamaal Charles, Arian Foster, etc. I doubt anyone is going to give up AP, MJD, Cedric Benson, Ryan Matthews, etc for him. The only way you're going to trade up is by giving up Jennings or White in a package and mark my words, they'll both be top 5 WRs this year.

Trade him now and another team in your league is going to be laughing all the way to the bank when the regular season is on its way.

Your team is tight. I'd leave it alone.
