If Tressel continues to leave him in to pad his stats against crappy teams like Eastern, he probably will win it. Up 52-20 with the game in hand and you're running halfback passes back to your QB? Give me a break.

Can someone explain to me why Oregon's Darron Thomas isn't at least being mentioned in the early Heisman talk? I realize LaMike is a partial reason why, but seriously, check out DT's numbers compared to the QB's at the top of the Heisman heap.

Denard Robinson Passing :67/96 1008 yards, comp. 69.8%, 10.50 avg. 7 TD's - 1 INT rating 180.0 Rushing: 98 carries 905 yards 9.2 ypc 8 TD's

Terrelle Pryor Passing: 80/123 1015 yards, comp. 65.0%, 8.25 avg. 12 TD's - 3 INT's rating 161.7 Rushing: 54 carries 373 yards 6.9 ypc 3 TD's

Kellen Moore Passing: 75/113 1069 yards, comp 66.4%, 9.46 avg. 11 TD's - 1 INT rating 176.2

Darron Thomas Passing: 78/135 1060 yards, comp 57.8%, 7.85 avg. 13 TD's - 5 INT's rating 148.1 Rushing: 34 carries 219 yards 6.4 ypc 2 TD's

Sure he's got a few more INT's than those guys but he's got as many total TD's, decent averages in both passing and rushing, and decent total yardage.

Oh and tonight should vault Taylor Martinez into the discussion, 5/7 128 1 TD, 15 carries 241 4 TD's.

Let's see how Martinez does against Texas before we put him in there. The guy is clearly talented, but he hasn't faced a top rushing defense yet.

Well sure, but really, what top rushing defenses have any of those other running QB's, already in the Heisman discussion, faced? Denard Robinson: UCONN, ND, Indiana? Terrelle Pryor: Marshall, Miami(decent I suppose), Illinois?

Slightly stiffer competition that Martinez but not vastly stiffer. And Darron Thomas has faced similar quality of D's too.

Really? "Much better?" What are you looking at? Total yards? Completion percentage? If you take into account the level of competition, all those guys are about on the same plane.

Yeah, because Ohio State, Boise State and Oregon have played such stiff competition so far.....yes Oregon has played a solid schedule so far after last week which is why I think James is #2 right now.

I'm looking at the fact that his passing numbers are right in line with everyone else on that list yet he's also almost rushed for 1000 yards already too. It's laughable how amazing that is so far regardless of who he's playing. It's one of those things where he's making defenses look bad. When one player puts up 500 total yards on your defense....it's probably going to move your team defense rank down quite a bit the next week.

Next week will be a legitimate test. While MSU can definitely win tomorrow, it won't be because they will bottle Denard up. Iowa is incredible defensively though and will present a real challenge.
