Cam - Heisman winner

Postby Nfl Fan » Sun Dec 12, 2010 2:23 am

Congrats to him. Hands down the best college football player of 2010. As Oregon alumni, I'd love to see a Duck get it... but even LaMike said he'd vote for Cam Newton... twice!

;-D

Anybody else get a chuckle when he thanked his parents for everything they've done "behind the scenes"? I did. :-b

I think the guy is without question the best college football player this year, but you have to question the wisdom of giving him this award with all the trouble surrounding him, in an ongoing investigation. Makes you wonder what the Heisman folks are really thinking sometimes.

Totally agree. Obviously the whole "integrity" ratio is irrelevant when voting in the newest Heisman winner these days. Which is fine, I really don't care. If the award is just going to be based on your merits on the field, sure give it to Cam, he is easily the best football player on the field this year. If you're going to look a player's "integrity" and their indiscretions, then award should have been given to Luck or even Moore. It's like every year the award is handed out it becomes an even bigger and bigger joke. I really hope the award isn't handed back in a couple years. The Heisman brass may a well just eliminate the whole integrity aspect of the award and be done with it.

How much ya wanna bet that ND LB Manti Te'o isn't even invited to NY for the Heisman...and it would be 2010 all over again. :-t

He placed 2nd in the voting but still should have won...Notre Dame is playing for a national championship partly due to him.

The Heisman Trophy is still a joke. :-t

I don't think people understand the true meaning behind the Heisman. You don't get to a national championship by yourself for the most part. Notre Dame probably could have got there without him. But A&M sure as heck wouldn't be 10-2 without Johnny HeisManziel. Nobody has torn Alabama apart like he did, and Notre Dame sure as heck won't either.

Did Te'o deserve it? Absolutely. Did Manziel deserve it? Absolutely. Every year someone gets screwed, only one person can get the trophy. Just like only one team gets to be champion and other teams get "screwed" because they didn't win it. It's not a flawed system, it's sore losers.

Te'o will have a great NFL career without winning the Heisman. He's the next Ray Lewis. Heck, he won just about every other award offered. If Luck and the Mannings can do fine without the Heisman, so can Manti Te'o.
